The cops blamed their protocol and said it didn't have an age limit on the cuffs rule, but in that case they should have called a Child Protections agent, or some type of advocate for the child. No way a child belongs in cuffs or in a holding cell. The article makes the child sound like a little demon, so I'm sure everyone was confused on how to handle the situation, but there are experts for that, and the police department has access to these experts.

Suppose the child had just been sexually assaulted and was acting out from fear and pain and didn't trust anyone? No one in this situation had the expertise to decide to cuff a 6 year old, they should've called in the people that deal with children.

Insanity at its finest. Seriously, handcuffs?

I totally agree with you GRA.

Case in point, the cops tried to give her a "coke" to calm down.

The police chief said the girl was taken to the police department’s squad room,
not a holding cell, and officers there tried to calm her and gave her a Coke.
