Amazingly... my WATS jumped a .01...

I was sure I'd get a karma point.

What's WATS please Pinocchio?

That W on your profile link. It stands for "Way Above Top Secret" a.k.a. WATS.
They're grading your account according to your posts. If it makes sense and abides to rules you rise. If not you get K = Karma.
It has a formula the moderators use. It's measure by stars versus...
Then they conclude and add you a point.

I think people are averse to what they don't understand.

I think any group would be defensive if you painted the entire organization as evil because of the actions of one member.

There will always be individuals who use their associations for personal benefit. I think Freemasonry as a whole abhors this practice, but we are all individuals on our own path in life.

Freemasonry is, and has always been, an easy target for hate because we are the largest and (ironically) most visible fraternity. That's okay, though. We accept it.

We've been targeted all over the world. For centuries we have been subject to discriminatory practices, even summary execution, at the hands of the Church, fundamentalist regimes and more recently Freemasons were rounded up by the thousands and murdered by Hitler.

I think for the most part, though, people simply don't understand who we are. We are not TPTB. We are not the NWO. If you study freemasonic history, and even the societies that came before us and influenced our beliefs, you will see that we have been the enemy of the state and the church for time immemorial.

We don't have dogma or doctrine, but many men who belong to our fraternity have awakened to the fact that the human soul is not the subject of rule by man or religion. And THAT scares the hell out of TPTB. And the church.

For centuries other groups have claimed exclusive authority over salvation and immortality. They've mislead the population into believing that only by adherence to their religious or political fundamentalism a person can be 'freed', otherwise they will be condemned forever.

Freemasons don't care about material or temporal glory. We are bound by oath to peaceably obey the lawful regulations of our countries and chosen church.

All in all though Freemasonry is just a toolbox for a man to discover for himself what the ultimate truth is. And we make no judgment of any man's beliefs.

People hate what is different. In today's world the things we stand for don't sit well with the intolerant, the fundamentalists, the elites and those who would wield temporal power.

I was just wondering why there is so much hatred behind people's feelings when it comes to this particular fraternity of brothers. No need to be vicious, just voice your opinion if you choose to. I would like to think we are all ears.

Reckless use of verbiage to sensationalize your subject matter.

You don't speak for the world.

Shame on you.

you are absolutely right, i dont speak for the world..that is why the title was in a form of a question. Guess you missed that part. Just thought that, maybe, people could shed some light on a matter that has bothered me.

Put simply, I think..

1 - Largest and oldest fraternity

2 - Presence of masons in government and on the front lines of revolutions like the French, American and Texas.

3 - A perception of elitism or condescension

4 - Condemnation worldwide by all major power groups: Islam, Catholicism, Nazism, Communism, Socialism, Fascism.

5 - Lastly, society loathes happiness. Men with a smile on their face in modern life are suspected to be hiding something.

I agree with emsed's entire post and also wanted to throw in my piece on top of it...

There is definitely an esoteric nature to freemasonry, and I think that makes a lot of people uncomfortable. We perform ritual, we dress funny at certain meetings.. It's all pretty regular stuff, but from the outside looking in it probably does seem a little strangeish. Aside from the degrees, our monthly meetings are pretty boring....

I don't think the world hates Freemasonry. The only anti-Masons I've ever encountered have been online, not in real life.
