There is one most hated name in the military. It is the name that causes people to froth at the mouth and go blind. It is the name that causes people heart attacks and their hair to go white.

What is it?

It is Will.

Because everybody fires at will.

I'd also hate to have the last name of Major. Such as the famous actor Lee Majors. It would be somewhat awkward to say a person's name with their rank. Imagine trying to say Corporal Major, or General Major, or Major Major, or Admiral Major or Captain Major.

So there you go.

Just a random thought of the day.

Wow. I was reading very intently. Eyes glued to the words. Until...

Everybody fires at will...

Now I need to clean my monitor.

I once knew a guy with the last name seargent, and he was a seargent.

Seargent, Seargent.

That was so corny it was funny.
I think the best would be a sergeant with the last name Major. Since sergeant major is a senior NCO, above a sergeant. If that has happened before, I bet at least one person in the military has had a wtf moment.

I knew a guy with the same name. Also knew a Sergeant Major who was a Sergeant Major, his parents were a cruel lot, eh?

For a period while I was in the 82d ABN, our Finance OIC was CPT Cash and his XO was 1LT Money.

I am not lying...I [Snip] you not brother.

You run into all sorts of names in thirty years that are amusing when combined with rank.

I've run into a few instances like that. They can be kinda comical.

While in the Navy i was in Japan, there was a Lieutenant Admiral who served as a watch officer at my command. His dad was a retired Navy Captain, Captain Admiral.
Last i heard the guy had made it to Commander.

On one ship our XO was Commander Shipp. Another one, had a Petty Officer Cash working in Disbursing.

In Iraq, a unit i worked with had a Staff Sergeant Sargent.
