But from a people who up till this point only showed boat usage close to the mainland shore for fishing. Up till this discovery the thoughts were that they travel from place to place or expanded their territory only by land routes.

So this discover adds a who new level of understanding of these people, or could. There is the possibility that this particular group may have been blown out to sea and could not make it back and then made the best of the situation that they could. Only more study will clarify which situation is true. That they fared farther from land and possibly used water routes as well as land to find new living space, or if it was an accident.
