The Jerusalem planning and committee has approved new construction that has resulted in the demolition of a community center built by Silwan residents that included a playground, community center and cafe.

Apparently the new center will be built on stilts above some recent archaeological discoveries.

The Jerusalem District Planning and Construction Committee approved on Monday the construction of a new visitors’ center at the City of David National Park in Silwan.

As part of this decision, Israel Nature and Parks Authority representatives this morning razed a complex built by Silwan residents that included a playground, community center and cafe.

“The plan is an example of outstanding architecture that will contribute to the development of the national park and create public space that befits the location within the site and the city, as well as address the needs of the million and a half annual visitors to the national park,” the Ministry of Interior’s announcement stated.

On the other hand, Silwan residents and left-wing organizations that support them vehemently objected to the building which they claimed bolstered the process of Judaization of the village and strengthened the Elad organization’s hold on the place.

I wonder if some of these "projects" are business ventures in disguise.

Somebody probably lost money.

The story did not mention what the archaeological discoveries are.

And this is why nobody sane wants peace with Israel.

You cannot reason with a government who thinks they are the master race chosen by God.

What we should do is cut all relations and put sanctions on them like the Iranian regime or the Syrian regime. Cut all exports and imports from them... from the government, not the people.

Israel is no democracy, it's a theocracy. Iran's theocracy might be insane, but at least they don't think they are God chosen like Netanyahu and his ilk think they are.

Oh just look how US presidents get on a competition to show who is the best servant to Israel , then come to me and tell me you should cut ties with Israel.

Zionist lobby is the most powerful lobby in the middle east.

Those chosen people running every single part of your country are not going to be worshiping God,

Maybe they worship some owl in bohemian groove , maybe they worship Baphomet in a freemasonry lodge , or maybe they worship the same old golden cow they built when Moses was absent.

“This is one of the most important projects in Jerusalem in recent generations. It would be impossible to find a serious archeologist with a bad word to say about the conduct of the excavations,” said Baruch.

Sure, the Archaeologists might all think it's a good idea. But what do normal people with feelings think?

Who cares what the archaeologists think, people who allow this stuff are morons.

Hey if here's archeaological evidence that helps prove Jerusalem belongs to the Israeli's it's ok. Archeaology is a good thing and it helps modern day scientists learn about the past and about ancient cultures. They need to dig deeper though, most of Jerusalem is sitting on 30 feet of dirt and debris from it's destruction in 70 and 135 A.D.

No one should even be allowed to live in the old city, it's a giant archeaological dig site and could bring in tons of money from tourism.
