Democracy U.S. president Abraham Lincoln (1809-1865) defined democracy as: «Government of the people, by the people, for the people» Democracy is by far the most challenging form of government - both for politicians and for the people. The term democracy comes from the Greek language and means "rule by the (simple) people". The so-called "democracies" in classical antiquity (Athens and Rome) represent precursors of modern democracies. Like modern democracy, they were created as a reaction to a concentration and abuse of power by the rulers. Yet the theory of modern democracy was not formulated until the Age of Enlightment (17th/18th centuries), when philosophers defined the essential elements of democracy: separation of powers, basic civil rights / human rights, religious liberty and separation of church and state.

Look at what they did to the Native Indians and the black communities.

I am not sure they can coexist.
This could be a passing situation,I am sure that things will improve in the future.
when 51 percent of the people can opress the rights and needs of the other 49%. it doesn't seem so fair to me. And has lead to the deep divide in our country today.
I don't understand this quote, freedom is freedom and slavery is slavery,I didn't see any slavery in a democratic country.
Freedom is to democracy as slavery is to rainbows
For the leaders are confused and trying to find regional solutions to global problems.
But when I see the country around me fallen apart, I think to myself...how did we get here?
Then what is communism,in communism is no freedom and people are oppressed,as in socialism freedom is limited in some western countries.
You can't have democracy and freedom
Thank you for the vid,as I try to understand we are talking more about globalization as we think that Democracy could threaten Freedom.
"democracy" threatens our "freedom"
I wonder what are those countries,or societies and even if we know who they are we cannot change a thing.
Democracy, in large scale societies that do not have a homogeneous culture or beliefs is just a veneer
