The Reichsbank had hidden, particularly in the salt mines in gold flag with a value of about 400 million Reichsmarks. The gold came from central banks of countries occupied by Germany, of civilians and victims of Nazi persecution. By summer, a large part remained in the Reichsbank building in Frankfurt in the care of Devisenverwahrst├Ątte (Foreign Exchange Depository, FED), a section of the Office of Military Government of the United States (Office of Military Government, United States, OMGUS). Collected between 1945 and 1948, secured and inventoried the Fed almost $ 300 million (now $ 2.9 billion) in gold bullion and gold coins, so they can be distributed to various countries... BUT, did those countries ever receive it, or was it hidden by the Bank of England?

Investigative journalist Sterling Seagrave and his wife have investigated how Asian and European gold was first plundered by the axis forces and later secretly recovered by the US. According to Seagrave, the gold was used to create a fund which was used for financing all kind of black operations. The fund was called black eagle trust fund and has been used to steal elections, bribe organized crime and finance warlords. I find Seagraves's story very fascinating. This history has still an impact on today's deep politics.

Drawing on a vast range of original documents and thousands of hours of interviews, Gold Warrior exposes one of the great state secrets of the twentieth century. In 1945, US intelligence officers in manila discovered that the Japanese had hidden large quantities of gold bullion and other looted treasure in the Philippines. President Truman decided to recover the gold but to keep its riches secret. These, combined with Japanese treasure recovered during the US occupation, and with recovered Nazi loot, would create a worldwide American political action fund to fight communism. This 'Black Gold' gave Washington virtually limitless, unaccountable funds, providing an asset base to reinforce the treasuries of America's allies, to bribe political and military leaders, and to manipulate elections in foreign countries for more than fifty years.
