Exelon says it will take 4 years to assess earthquake risk to Illinois plants some of them use Mark I boiling-water reactors, which are the same model as the Fukushima Daiichi plant.

Golly...I hope someone thought to drop Mother Nature a memo on this. She'll want to be good and wait a few years, so they have time to do what should have been done long long ago....

Nature would never be so rude as to throw an Earthquake before the audience is properly prepared would she? Err.. Oh yeah..there was that small quake near the Illinois/Wisconsin border a couple days ago, huh? Perhaps this is one of those few times where 'Better late than never' isn't better at all.

I sure hope time doesn't prove this to be terminally foolish in not getting done sooner...like, oh I dunno..when they were built and as technology to update became available in the years since, perhaps?

Illinois to participate in earthquake drill

The time of drill starts"coincidentally" enough 15 minutes before the weekly, Tuesday test of emergency sirens in my town.
