Another ship sunk. This happned in Papua new guinea, 350 on board. It was a passenger ferry. 1 or 2 accidents happened there before. Just breaking on sky as we speak. I hope everyone got off ok.
Just breaking as I say, had to wait to get a link. As it took a while to show up in Sky website. The news broke on Sky just after 3am GMT.

Reports now off people being taken out of the water. Hope this is true !!!
Still not up on the website. Is on Sky News breaking news banner.

What is it with people over-filling ferries? It seems that lots of these type of accidents used to happen, but I haven't heard about one lately. Now I'm wondering if that has really been the case, or if it has just been for the most part kept off of the news.

Most of the news articles regarding passenger ferries sinking or overturning happen in southeast Asia or Africa and are due to GROSS overloading, as in, ferries with 4 or 5 times the rated weight and persons aboard, so its really not a surprise nor is it unusual. I don't know if its corruption on the part of the Captain or shore personnel or what, but no doubt profit has something to do with it....still..... it happens a lot.

Another terrible tragedy - I have heard
of ferry boats being too crowded for safety.
Hope every one is alive. Awaiting updates.

Hence why I would rather take the chance flying, over a boat.

I lived in Key West, Fl for many years and
have heard some strange stories indeed,
in regards to the triangle. I have even
seen things in the ocean I couldn't explain.
Yes I would say its best to take another
means of transporation. That may happen
now that there has been an accident - many
safety regulations should be put into place
on ships and ferrys to protect people not
fill others wallets. .

So far 28 people have been rescued.

And it was not a cruise ship, it was a passenger ferry.

Australia is doing most of the search and rescue with coast guard/naval resources being used.

I wonder if these cruise ships are built to sink. Some even say Titanic was a self fulfilling prophecy because of the Novel written before it was ever thought of.

What a silly thing to say, of course they're not built to sink.

In PNG, there are quite often reports of ferries (not cruise liners) sinking due to overloading, poor maintainence, or some other highly preventable reason. There is nothing suspicious or conspiratorial about this or the Cruise liner in Italy, aside from Human stupidity.
