...they stand back and look to be almost scared because they can't use brute force they will be will be villified if they even try.

At around 12:45 p.m., police responded to a report of a pony running free Modesto police pursued a pony that got loose from somewhere in western rural Modesto, Thursday afternoon eventually corralling the pony in a residential front yard on the 1300 block of Orangeburg Avenue. Neighbors watch as the police corral the pony. January 26, 2012

Police quickly got to the scene, but the pony continued over train tracks and across Ninth Street, through a field and continued north on Clayton Avenue, said Sgt. Garret Crawford.
The pony continued north and then east on West Orangeburg Avenue as up to 10 officers searched the area.

Unbelieveable, catching a loose horse should be taught the first week in cop school.

Walk up calmly to the animal, put your belt around it's neck, put your hand on it's nose to guide it in the right direction away from large moving objects like cars or bikes while you wait for someone with a rope to arrive.

Standing around like a pack of predators only made the the situation worse, no wonder the pony paniced.

So...all of this # going on in our country, and the best thing you can think of to rant over is a pony?

I wish we were all ponies...we might get the help we needed. Then again, they might just stand around tazing us. Wait, that already happens.

Oh, dear.

My friend Dan used to talk about animal behavior and horses.

He told me that they train horses with the man in the middle of the ring and you make a physical gesture to frighten the horse, claws and fangs.

And then you make a more friendly gesture, horse comes over, wants to join your herd. That is how they stay safe, join a good herd.

Asking a lot for a cop to be up on all that in the big city.

Truth is, they only know how to deal with people. They really should've had animal control come in. Pepperspray and tazers won't work on a pony. And if they do, then we have no business using them on people.

About a half an hour after the pony’s adventure came to head, an animal control officer arrived with a bucket of food. The officer stroked the pony’s mane as it munched on hay. He then carefully loaded the pony into the trailer at about 2:30 p.m.

Is it just me or does the post title make no sense whatsoever ?

How are tazers or pepper spray related to the story.

Please elaborate.
