Israel Arrests Senior Palestinian Aziz Dweik - Hamas

A senior Palestinian politician and member of the militant group Hamas has been arrested by the Israeli army in the West Bank, his aides say.

Aziz Dweik, speaker of the Palestinian Legislative Council (PLC), was arrested at an army checkpoint, his chief of staff told AFP news agency.

Israel has so far not commented.

Witnesses told the Palestinian Maan news agency that Israeli soldiers handcuffed and blindfolded Dr Dweik before taking him to an unknown destination.

The nearest torture chambers. ... and the "secret police" will discover some convenient names of "co-conspirateurs" that will be arrested shortly, or will "dissappear".

But then, who cares ... he's just an arab.

That about sums it up I think. Maybe we'll hear more about this soon. I'll update if anything else pops up.

Thats a slap to Hamas. According to them he is president of Palestinian authority after all. But if i am not mistaken it is not first time that he is arrested so i doubt that it is "last time we heard about him".
My gues that it is part of backstage deals in current talks between Israel and Fatah that are held now in/via Jordan.
Fatah and Hamas hate each other almost as they hate Israel. Prominent Hamas politician out of the way is a plus for Fatah after union between two failed to happen.

It is how democratic and law abiding Israel is.

Just a big threat to whole middle east.
