'Iran war: Clocking down to doomsday'

Now anything that refers to info wars is skeptical for mine, but interesting that this news is coming from a former US official, apparently. I have to agree that the US is indeed prepping for a war with Iran, and perhaps for reasons other than Iran developing nuclear capability. What do other ATS members think of this?

A former US official says an American nuclear attack on Iran would cause China and Russia to think they could suffer a similar fate, and possibly lead to a nuclear Armageddon.

“The consequence would be that the world would face a higher risk of nuclear Armageddon than existed in the mutually assured destruction of the US-Soviet standoff,” wrote Paul Craig Roberts, Assistant Secretary of the Treasury during Ronald Reagan's presidency, in an article titled “'IRAN: The Next War on Washington's Agenda Politics” on infowars.com.

Roberts added, “The raised level of Washington's rhetoric and demonization of Iran” is one of the signals pointing to Washington intent of a military strike on Iran.

“Only the blind do not see that the US government is preparing to attack Iran,” he said.

However, he argued that Iran's nuclear program is merely a pretext for a US attack on the country, saying the US government's war preparations are in fact driven by other factors.

First, he said, is the US government's “neoconservative ideology,” that calls for the US to use its superior military and economic position to achieve world hegemony.

“A second factor is Israel's desire to eliminate all support for the Palestinians and for Hezbollah in southern Lebanon,” Craig Roberts said, adding that by eliminating Iran, Washington removes all obstacles to Israel's expansionism, which ultimately seeks to “seize all of Palestine and the water resources of southern Lebanon.”

A third factor motivating a US strike on Iran, Craig Roberts argues, is to deter or slow China's rise as a military and economic power by controlling China's access to energy.

Washington and Tel Aviv have repeatedly threatened Tehran with the "option" of a military strike, based on the allegation that Iran's nuclear work may consist of a covert military aspect.

Iran has categorically refuted the US-led allegations regarding its nuclear program, saying that as a signatory to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty and a member of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), it has the right to develop and acquire nuclear technology for peaceful purposes.

Iranian officials have also promised a crushing response to any military strike against the country, warning that any such measure could result in a war that would spread beyond the Middle East.

“If the missiles aren't launched, Americans would wake up the next day a bankrupt third world country. If the missiles were launched, few Americans would wake up,” Craig Roberts concluded.

If/when the U.S. decides to officially go to war with Iran I HIGHLY doubt they'd start their campaign off by using a nuclear weapon like the article stated, even if Iran attacked first (without nukes of course). Can you imagine the ramifications if the U.S. decided to go that route? China and Russia wouldn't bother waiting to find out what'll happen in the future, if the U.S. drops the bomb everyone else is gonna launch theirs and all bets are off.

Yes I agree with you. It would have to escalate into something way bigger than conventional war to even remotely justify the use of nuclear bombs.

The biggest threat is Iran wanting to sell their oil for currencies other than dollars.

Yes, it is a threat, to THEMSELVES. We all know what happens when a country seeks freedom from the system. Libya for example.

Anything from Info Wars is dubiouse at best.
The us and europ are trying to increase there spheres of inflence
over these countries which have good energy supplies. the question
is at what point do the old powers become despirate enough to
reach for that old favorite empire building card. having direct control
over another countie and it's people is a quick way to increase the
old bottom line. we all think were beyond the days of physical empires,
I belive just the opposite we are at the dawn of a new era of empire.
as for iran, and syria i'm sure some negociation between the cremlin
and washington will alow an equal share, like poland in 39

Of course this nuclear program is obviously another media spun excuse to allow the Zionist Powers That Be to take over yet another sovereign oil rich middle eastern nation's central bank and their OIL.

The Zionists control the financial industry and any nation that cuts out the global middlemen aka Banksters out of their money for similar as with dealing with gangsters they will inflict harm and/or threaten to do so.

Iraq began selling oil for Euros and thereby cutting ENRON out of cheap Iraqi OIL,their bread and butter, and we invaded...and installed our own puppet govt. and got the oil back under BP Control.

Libya had an non Bankster/Rothschild controlled central bank, AND plenty of Gold to fund their own Gold backed currency , the Gold Dinar. With the intent of forming an African Union similar to the European Union.

Libya too was selling their OIL not accepting USD was also invaded, their leader Moamar Ghadaffi killed and the Gold was Plundered.

The Puppet Govt. is now installed and NATO is guarding the OIL.

Iran is selling their OIL not for USDollars as the Banksters command, but for their own currency the RIAL ever since the ongoing sanctions were imposed upon them.

Cutting out the Zionist Banksters isnt allowed by the PTB so as with Iraq and Libya we are now threatening Iran with violence.
