They locked down the base and offered a 10 grand reward, it has to be something important.

Night vision goggles, laser sights. They did NOT "lock down the base." They "locked down" ONE (count them, one) Infantry company, which is about 100 men from the Fourth Brigade, Second Infantry Division.

One company--not the whole base.

Maybe AG Holder is stepping up his game procuring directly from the DOD stockpiles since his bizness went south with gun dealers.

100-member company from the 4th Stryker Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division, has been on lockdown since last week, when the equipment was discovered to be missing during a routine inventory.

Its not the whole base, its a hundred of soldiers.

The missing items are weapons accessories and not weapons, Ophardt said. Laser sights and night vision goggles were cited as an example.

This is high tech military material, not sold to public, i think they can call it " sensitive ".
And there's just examples, other equipment are missing too...

AND ( i like this part )

The disappearance of equipment "sensitive" enough to lock down an entire company is alarming, and is even more concerning at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, which has had more than its share of trouble in recent years. It has been called "the most troubled base in the military" and described as a "base on the brink."

and

The base has been a focal point for the challenges service-members face when returning home from multiple — often traumatic — deployments. A recent Los Angeles Times profile of the Fort Lewis area, detailed how suicides, murders, fights, robberies, domestic violence, drunk driving and drug overdoses have all increased around the base as veterans have returned from Iraq and Afghanistan.

Remember the threads last weeks about the Mt Rainier shooting / cover up / volcanic eruption...

ATS THREAD

Benjamin Colton Barnes, the Iraq war veteran who shot and killed a park ranger before drowning in a creek on Mount Rainier last week was stationed at Lewis-McChord.

My feeling on this is it has something to do with the mexican drug cartels that are spreading like a wildfire throuout the usa. Im sure the cartels put huge pricetags on such items taken from the base. The cartel thing has been kept hush hush to prevent any bringing up of its existance.
