Occupy.... CHRISTMAS?!?!?!!!

Those who do not support Occupy, I am sorry to inform you... Christmas has been occupied.

We choose this time, because it is a time, of all others, when Want is keenly felt, and Abundance rejoices. What shall I put you down for?'

'Nothing!' Scrooge replied.

'You wish to be anonymous?'
'I wish to be left alone,' said Scrooge. 'Since you ask me what I wish, gentlemen, that is my answer. I don't make merry myself at Christmas and I can't afford to make idle people merry. I help to support the establishments I have mentioned-they cost enough; and those who are badly off must go there.'

'Many can't go there; and many would rather die.'

'If they would rather die,' said Scrooge, 'they had better do it, and decrease the surplus population."

Are there no EBT cards?
Well sure, in fact, over the past 4 years, use of food stamps, even at military commissaries, has skyrocketed.

Are there no Walmarts, McDonalds, Banks, and BP stations to work at?
Well sure, each one of those establishments has been building increasing numbers of locations exponential to population growth.

Well good, I pay for welfare programs and hold stock in those fine business establishments.
But sir, many still can not find work, and some would rather die than live off welfare, or work at those corrupted corporations.

Well, let them die and decrease the surplus population. The global leaders I have funded are already working on eugenics to solve over population.

If for some reason you haven't seen "it's a wounder life", well, it's about a Banker who tries to take over the town and rip off the people. But... the people's good will takes the day!

The spokesman of the 99% George Baily, appeals to the 1% Mr. Potter... Arrest him responds Potter!

As you all know if you have seen the movie, George sees what would happen to the Town if he had killed himself. The town would have literally been named "Pottersville" and the Bank would have completed it's strangle hold on society... NWO

The 1% furry ugly reptilian(jk) extracts the wealth from the 99%


The 99% gather in solidarity and peace.

The 1% feels bad about what he did, gives back to the 99%, all is well.

Not so blatantly Occupying Christmas, we have "A Christmas Story" which is somewhat of a commentary on consumerism covering up real values in life. Remember Mall Santa scene? Yeah, a little bit of a stretch on this one, you get my point.


A very Harold and Kumar Christmas... actually has some pretty good social commentary. If you haven't seen it, I am not going to explain the whole thing. But basically 1%(well, not that rich, but still) Harold-(on the left), and his 99% percent-er friend Kumar(on the right) reunite over Christmas. Harold realizes he got lost in consumerism among other things and pushed away some of the more important things it life. If you've seen it, you get the commentary on corporations/consumerism. Again, this one is a tad of a stretch, but not too much.


Last but not least....

Here is a picture of the very top 1% giving gifts to the verrrryyy bottom of the 99% percent. Lets see if you recognize this?

Whether you believe in Jesus as real or a myth, when Jesus saw something happening that was wrong, he did something about it. He didn't just pass quietly by and say nothing. Besides the fact they were selling inside the Temple in that video.. It also says in the bible that Jesus said the prices were too high! I am not making that up.

Also the Jesus said this....

"The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim release to the captives and... to set at liberty those who are oppressed" Luke 4:18-19

So the question... would Jesus Occupy?

I did notice a few years ago when things started to go downhill that they quit showing "It's a Wonderful Life" on TV. Can't be televising a movie depicting a run on the banks, now can we?

I am pretty sure it's on, just less often, you do have a point. Possibly my favorite movie.

I must say that if Occupy had been graced with people as effective as you seem to be in packaging and presenting a message, they would be in a far stronger position with the public than they find themselves today. The occupy movement claims to be 'non-violent' but revolution is a violent act by definition. Violence agains men is wrong, but violence against non-living things... is that truly violence?

Capitalism did no such thing.

Capitalism is an economic mechanism, it is not a social or legal mechanism, only economic.

What destroyed Christmas (from my view) is materialism...which is a social mechanism.

Sure. I should have said people in the name of capitalism destroyed Christmas. I'm not Christian but I used to be and I still love Christmas, the peace on earth, goodwill toward men...spending time with family part of it. I'm lucky because I've never lost sight of that but clearly the masses have. Black Friday begins the assault on sanity and for a full month we're barraged with guilt, lights and greed. Got pepper-spray?

Capitalism has enhanced the Celebration of Christmas by adding tons and tons of fun decorations, lights, festivals, food, and other interesting things.

Yes, this black friday thing is too much. I never go shopping that day anyway. People are still what they are because of their upbringing.

Perhaps you would prefer the communist way, as in Russia during the 80's when they had to wait in lines around the corner for a loaf of bread.

Yes, I'd love to see if you like that better, because that's the alternative.

Is it always necessary to swing the pendulum so far back? Capitalism in it's current form is failing the majority of humanity, saying so doesn't make one a communist or marxist nor does it mean someone is saying those forms of economy worked better. I do think however, that what we are seeing now with our free market capitalism is the same, it's being corrupted, exploited and only serving those at the top or allowing too few to make it out of the bottom, same as communism and marxism were corrupted and exploited. Of course free market capitalism isn't solely to blame for our economic woes.
