This is from the 1978 scientific paper provided by the NASA Astrophysics Data System entitled, "Is the Solar System Entering a Nearby Interstellar Cloud?"

Undeniable PROOF that NASA is keeping a lot of information secret, waiting for a proper time to release the 'newly discovered' information.

However, the complexity of the interstellar medium is not completely understood, it would not be surprising if the situation is far more complicated than indicated in this paper."

LMAO, and NASA had articles in 23 December 2009 saying that this was a big surprise and that, "Our solar system is passing through a cloud of interstellar material that shouldn't be there, astronomers say."

Then, it is almost an exact quote from the 1978 article, "Their strong magnetic fields could compress the heliosphere even more than it is compressed now," according to NASA. "Additional compression could allow more cosmic rays to reach the inner solar system, possibly affecting terrestrial climate and the ability of astronauts to travel safely through space."

There was another post on here that speculated that we were actually part of the Sagittarious B.
And not the milky way. This was the reason the why the milky way was tilted at night.
We are being cannibalized by the milky way galaxy.

Makes sense that we could pass through clouds from time to time.

The Solar System bobs above and below the galactic plane as it rotates The Galaxy, there's no reason for solar system ecliptics to be level with the galactic plane, ours isn't, it tilted around a 60º angle (IIRC). Do to the age difference and the majority of star types most common in the Milky Way and the Sagittarius galaxies it's more likely the Solar System is native of the Milky Way. The majority of the star types of the two galaxies are quite different.

About the NASA bashing, science is about discovery and amendments to discoveries as detection abilities advance. The more that is discovered the more firm past assertions evolve into many possibilities.

Cool thread! Always forgetting about these clouds because they're never mentioned anymore. Kind of like the photon belt - where did it go? And the golden nebula - the one the photon belt morphed from. Our solar system is on end in the galaxy. It was supposedly tilted 90 degrees or so. Don't know where the new numbers came from - do people just make this stuff up? It's compared to the angle of Uranus within the solar system - another odd one. Anyway, here's a link to the 90 degrees although I'm not sure what that has to do with 'clouds.'

It is not easy to illustrate the position of the Solar System regarding the equatorial plane of our galaxy -the Milky Way. There is a small number of books of Astronomy that illustrate the coplanarity of the Solar System and the galaxy; consequently, we often imagine that the North of Earth is also the north of the galaxy. However, the plane of the Solar System is not coplanar with the plane of the Milky Way because it is tilted almost 90° with respect to the equatorial plane of the galaxy.

As far as NASA keeping things from us - definitely!!

From what I have heard this cloud has the codename of chinzwitz.Or at least it did before it appeared online.
