I dont think Saddam is dead. I think that he probably is hidding out somewhere in Iraq.

The story is obviously BS, but it's perhaps the true reasons of the invasion of Iraq. It could well be that the televangelists picked up that UFO thesis (along with the 9/11 punishment from god theory) and GWB is believing it also, since he seems quite manipulable.
