Occupy Wall Street Offers Immigration Training for Undocumented Participants

The Occupy Wall Street movement has made it its mission to include immigrants into their growing social movement.

But there is one segment of this population they have reluctantly, almost nervously, brought into the fold: the undocumented.

Occupy groups, who have said they need Hispanics and other immigrants to rally to their cause, have realized that the growing number of arrests could frighten undocumented immigrants – and they’ve taken steps to make sure they aren’t a neglected group.

Mariano Muñoz, who is part of the Spanish assembly for Occupy Wall Street in New York, said it is an issue they are aware of and trying to address.

He said immigration training classes are offered to undocumented who want to join, where legal experts and lawyers address any questions they may have, any issues they could face and how to deal with worst-case-scenario cases. The classes offer police procedure and immigration rights instruction.

In the grand scheme of things II's are not really a problem, most work hard and seek freedom from chaos, same as any other human. OWS stands for freedom, Hope and peace, should they succeed people will learn to embrace different cultures as Friends and not enemies

And besides what person who is at risk for deportation is going to show up, protest and risk arrest anyway? Just to get themselves deported back to the country they fought so hard to get away from in the first place? Someone is yankin our chains to sully OWS some more. Which seems to be going on here a lot lately. This is a conspiracy forum about conspiracies against ordinary people, not about them. Go play somewhere else you minion of the state.

Where have you been? Last august your god obama gave amnesty to all 30 million illegals and told them to apply for work permits. Little risk of deportation. As long as illegals don't commit any further crimes, they can stay and take our jobs.

Every time I hear somebody spout of a line starting with "OWS supports..." I cringe at the blatant ignorance of the person regurgitating media smear phrases. The Occupy Movement is about bringing an end to this corporatocracy that has destroyed this once-great nation and replaced it with a neo-feudal system. Even though there are a handful of people stealing the thunder of that original idea behind the movement, it doesn't mean that that is what the movement is about.
That being said, I have to agree with your stances on immigration. This country needs to get it's act together before it allows a massive influx of the poor from other countries to add to the already overwhelming amount of people here living in absolute despotism. Either that, or the OWS movement is going to have to change their catch-phrase to "we are the 99.99999999999999999%"

I still support OWS, just not all of the ideas.
OWS also supports the idea that we small folk should not be forced into bailing out big corp.
But if you are ok with the laundry list of bad things that OWS is opposed to, Hmmm.
It is neat how the PTB have tried a number of angles to disrupt the movement.
