11:28 UTC, that's 4:28 Pacific Time, 7:28 Eastern Time (New York), that's from NASA. I think the time zones are the reason there are so many different times.

You won't see it with binoculars and pop corn won't help either it's 100 times dimmer than the naked eye can see. You'll need a telescope with a six inch aperture at least to see it

Actually I just went to the NASA page and I found this.

Radar observations from the Arecibo Planetary Radar Facility in Puerto Rico will begin Nov. 8, the same day the asteroid will make its closest approach to Earth at 3:28 p.m. PST (6:28 p.m. EST/1128 UTC).

Thanks Miles, but I think we now seem to have the correct hour down lol

11:28 UTC as I put, minus 7 hours for Pacific Time would be 4:28 add three for Eastern time it would be 7:28, not correct?
edit on 8-11-2011 by mileslong54 because: (no reason given)

Pacific Standard is -8, and Pacific Daylight is -7 so yes it would be -8 right now making it 3:28pm, my bad. Nevertheless 11:28 UTC

I think their times are wrong.

It says it will fly by @ 23.28UTC, and the countdown timer says 4hrs and 21mins left?

Given the current UTC is 21:39, there is in fact only 1 hour and 50mins left.

I don't believe you will see anything.

Very interesting they just said that the asteroid is blacker than charcoal.

I doubt you'll see anything if they have their times wrong.

Countdown still says 4hrs yet current UTC time is 21.59, and it is definitely flying by @ 23.28UTC

1 and a half hours to go by my watch. No idea why they are so far out.
