Yeah, French Legion kicks all. I'm pretty sick of hearing the "French lose all their wars" which isn't true. Sure they have lost of a few and surrendered, but that was always due to a bumbling command. If you ever study WW1 in-depth you'll realise how resilient and brave the French military is.

heres some french military history for ya.

Gallic Wars
- Lost. In a war whose ending foreshadows the next 2000 years of French history, France is conquered by of all things, an Italian.

- Hundred Years War
- Mostly lost, saved at last by female schizophrenic who inadvertently creates The First Rule of French Warfare; "France's armies are victorious only when not led by a Frenchman." Sainted.

- Italian Wars
- Lost. France becomes the first and only country to ever lose two wars when fighting Italians.

- Wars of Religion
- France goes 0-5-4 against the Huguenots

- Thirty Years War
- France is technically not a participant, but manages to get invaded anyway. Claims a tie on the basis that eventually the other participants started ignoring her.

- War of Revolution
- Tied. Frenchmen take to wearing red flowerpots as chapeaux.

- The Dutch War
- Tied

- War of the Augsburg League/King William's War/French and Indian War
- Lost, but claimed as a tie. Three ties in a row induces deluded Frogophiles the world over to label the period as the height of French military power.

- War of the Spanish Succession
- Lost. The War also gave the French their first taste of a Marlborough, which they have loved every since.

- American Revolution
- In a move that will become quite familiar to future Americans, France claims a win even though the English colonists saw far more action. This is later known as "de Gaulle Syndrome", and leads to the Second Rule of French Warfare; "France only wins when America does most of the fighting."

- French Revolution
- Won, primarily due the fact that the opponent was also French.

- The Napoleonic Wars
- Lost. Temporary victories (remember the First Rule!) due to leadership of a Corsican, who ended up being no match for a British footwear designer.

- The Franco-Prussian War
- Lost. Germany first plays the role of drunk Frat boy to France's ugly girl home alone on a Saturday night.

- World War I
- Tied and on the way to losing, France is saved by the United States. Thousands of French women find out what it's like to not only sleep with a winner, but one who doesn't call her "Fraulein." Sadly, widespread use of condoms by American forces forestalls any improvement in the French bloodline.

- World War II
- Lost. Conquered French liberated by the United States and Britain just as they finish learning the Horst Wessel Song.

- War in Indochina
- Lost. French forces plead sickness; take to bed with the Dien Bien Flu

- Algerian Rebellion
- Lost. Loss marks the first defeat of a western army by a Non-Turkic Muslim force since the Crusades, and produces the First Rule of Muslim Warfare; "We can always beat the French." This rule is identical to the First Rules of the Italians, Russians, Germans, English, Dutch, Spanish, Vietnamese and Esquimaux.

- War on Terrorism
- France, keeping in mind its recent history, surrenders to Germans and Muslims just to be safe. Attempts to surrender to Vietnamese ambassador fail after he takes refuge in a McDonald's.

The question for any country silly enough to count on the French should not be "Can we count on the French?", but rather "How long until France collapses?"

"Going to war without France is like going deer hunting without an accordion. All you do is leave behind a lot of noisy baggage."

Or, better still, the quote from last week's Wall Street Journal: "They're there when they need you."

i espically like the WWI paragraph. enjoy

This is not important to know won and lost wars. A lot of things you say is also no true and I could do the same job with the lost wars of America, Germany, Italy but also England even it is said to be the less loser of war or invasion.
You talked about a few wars. If you want to talk about Napoleon and the Empire he won that was going from Spain to Russia, then tell about insdead of saying that he lost his war (one war? Are you sure? Take an encyclopedia) when he wanted to go to far as he was crazy of empire. The same for the 100 years war and many others. When some wars stop, everybody can be the winner and you told about some that had no winner at all.

War on terrorism:

We started it in 1990 in Algeria when there was a lot of horrible crazy terrorist that were killing whole villages. We told Saudi that there were crazy ideas of false Muslims that were coming from Saudi to Algeria. Bush said that there was no terrorism in Saudi (the country of his oil) witch was true because the integrist were very well in that country and had the power in politic and religion and the benefits of the oil. George Herbert Walker Bush will learn there was terrorism and crazy false religious in Saudi in 2001 the 9/11 and instead of invading Saudi and their bad religious, he invaded Iraq and Saddam who had always fought those kind of dangerous Muslims, that will become the terrorists we know today and had never been in Iraq before, as they could have take the power of Saddam and he was also not religious at all. France also told in the mid 90s that England had the worst false Muslims with the same spoke coming from Saudi in its country and that it was going to be dangerous and to stop them as they were diffusing a wrong religion very dangerous in Europe. England will wait 2002 to arrest one of them only. Freedom of speech, they are terrorists!!! For the ben ladden, that religion (neo Wahhabism) was the best for their contracts with the country that was not so 20 years ago, and the Bush lobby seems to have brought money that pleased Saudi and its chefs. In France, it is 100 years that false and dangerous religions (some integrist of any religion, some sects, nazis) are forbidden or watch thanks to lacity. The matter is not Islam, but the terrorism that use Islam and used the money of the bush lobby to diffuse their Jihad with weapons when the Jihad is generally made in the brain and is a fight with the brain only that use war symbols. Islam became crazy in Saudi till some 20 years. We have to fight against that false religion first and America and England should have listen to the French to fight that thing since some 20 years in order there was no 9/11 and an horrible Iraq war made to the wrong enemy when the enemy is still Wahhabit. France had chose to inform the Muslims (with our Muslims and others) till 20years about that false religion that brought terrorism over the world instead of making a war that create new terrorist in Iraq when there was no terrorism and no fanatic Muslims in Iraq before the coalition came. The matter seems much more to be Saudi and its propaganda of a bad religion till 20years that slave Muslims and their women and gave terrorisme to the world using Islam and taking Muslims for hostages of a non Islamic thing.

Reaggan did in 1986. Those weapons menaced Israel in 1990 and the pentagon was still saying those weapons were from international terrorists. It means Reaggan himself. It means that those known weapons by the pentagon menaced Israel because of Reaggan and they tryed to say those weapons were from international terrorists. But of course, I know the french sold other weapons to him.
The matter is not America or France, the matter is what our gvt are doing and why they lie.

Please, let's talk about other things that wars lost or win because it is ridiculous and also the cruisades were made by all christians and English also and America is the daughter of France and England, so our defet are yours. America has never been better at war. In vietnam Gis losed against bicycle, and now, W have prove twice that bicycle is the matter with the politic of the USA and its president.

Could we talk about Iraq, France and USA in that war and the things I had wrote, it will be clever for anyone and more constructive.
