He called it "Own Wall Street"... What do we expect? That he would have any clue whatsoever what the people are saying? He tells the protestors to "go home and get a job"! What an idiot!!! And some people are thinking of making this guy the CinC?

Oh, yeah, he really cares about the people!
What a douche.

Going home and getting a job would be tough in these times, so I agree.

It would be better to stay in the protests, free food and temporary housing, never any lines at the bathrooms, because there aren't any in most cases, holding out for a new government that provides everything for free, paid for by the wealthiest Americans would be a better option.

Hang in there OWS.

Like I said, some people have not one CLUE what it's about. Trying to paint this crowd as a bunch of socialist hippies is what the GOP does best.

I don't think that's what anyone is hoping for. I think it's a matter of the function of the roles of Government, Money and Politics in our society. Particularly the separation of Finance and Politics from Economics. Production and distribution are mechanical systems governed by logic. Without money, economics can maximize efficiency by disregarding artificial value derived from perceived scarcity. In doing so it would essentially cost LESS because it would drastically reduce waste, create sustainable practices, you know, be ECONOMIC. In doing so we can raise the standard of living for everyone and still consume LESS than we do now.

What we have here with Wall Street is the recognition that CURRENCY has become more important than COMMERCE. That's why "# is #ed up and bull#" as one popular sign says.

A solution would be reorganization as opposed to slight reform through more regulation. We need modernization that considers the 700% increase in population in the last century and the VAST leaps in technology that the Congress of old men don't understand. We need a total reconsideration of this ancient outdated completely corrupted socioeconomic structure.

Remove the money and everyone is on an equal playing field. Put corporations and people to work for the reconstruction of society, without profit. Make human prosperity the new currency to be exploited. Make creating SUSTAINABLE ABUNDANCE the new goal of all people. Eliminate the power structure and replace it with a hierarchy based on aptitude without the reward of money. Bring back the community by allowing ample time and a transparent venue for discussion and the social structure will regulate itself. The cream will rise to the top based on performance and social support and they will stay at the top based on performance. Bringing education to the forefront of society will increase the average IQ. Removal of specialization will create a diversity of thought in the individual and promote critical thinking. That will reduce the amount of emotional knee-jerk thinking that is so common.

In your utopia where everything is leveled and equal, there is no top to rise to.

While it all sounds great, it just will not work with humans, someone has to dominate, be the best, on top, that is human nature, it is also the source for corruption and greed, and ultimately wars and violence.

When you think you've changed the world into your beautiful vision of it, someone, or some group will come along to destroy it, capitalize on it, exploit it and rule over it.

So says you. Each man mistakes his own limitations for that of the world.

That kind of fear based thinking is cynicism. Inside every cynic is a dead optimist, killed by loss of empowerment. It isn't realism. It's the inability to trace human behavior to it's root.

The "top" i am referring to is the most capable to organize and coordinate. We don't need "winners" we need "facilitators". Right now our society manufactures people aiming to "win the future". But there are plenty of people who don't want spotlight or to dominate, that want to help and cooperate.

There is no default human nature. Humans have predispositions but it requires an environmental trigger to create behavior. Even in the most twisted of people there is a reasoning that stems from either scarcity or distorted thinking brought on by damage or controlled/repressed thought. All of these things trace back to a broken corrupted social structure, not some mythical (unscientific) human nature.

To say man is inherently competitive is to ignore that we live in a society that is based-on and promoting competition. People are historically opposed to war. The only reason war exists is to exploit resources. Greed exists in our society because wealth acquisition is taught as a virtue. War exists literally because of the profiteers at Beoing, Lockheed Martin, GD and so forth. The reason our history is filled with such things is because the ruling class and this form of feudalism has been around for centuries producing the same human behavior. Our view of reality is also filtered by the prevailing ideology to help support it.

Utopia already exists for people who don't ever have to worry about money. They are given license to do what they want regardless of natural law or political law. Money creates utopia for a few and distopia for the many.

What i am talking about is the practical organization of resources and labor to generate prosperity. Walmart already does this, but they do it for Walmart shareholders first and foremost.

You can deny everything, but human nature is constant, consistent and ultimately entirely predictable.

Humans will never evolve beyond their nature... It is better to adapt a system that works with it than one that goes against it.

But hey, good luck anyway.

Sorry you feel that way but I know from my own knowledge and experience that sentiment is completely untrue.

Growth has to be stunted in a living thing, curiosity has to be killed. Personally I continue to learn and grow as a person and I have no desire to dominate anyone.

I recognize this kind of change will not happen in my lifetime because of people like you that attempt to discourage change because of irrational and unfounded fear. Fear based on a fixed and limited view of reality. Reality is itself a changing and emergent concept. In doing so you defend and preserve the status quo, which is why are still here.

Soon you and I will be gone and our children will run things. I hope they lean towards my calculated reasoning and not your emotional intuition.

Why does a culture choose monogamy when sexual impulses in males push for diversity of partners? How is it possible for scores of horny men to remain committed to their selective mates? Say what you will about the pros and cons of that.

What it is, is an example of people changing behavior that is dictated by biology, to evolve to meet a new ideal. It works best when that new ideal benefits them. That it is what civility is. That is what makes this a civilization and not the wild. That is what separates us from the cows and pigs, because we have the choice.

I really doubt that monogamy will be a good example of how human nature can be avoided.

Have a look at divorce stats, online cheating, and just plain cheating spouses... Really, you could not have picked a worse example... But it is a perfect illustration of my points, also repressing human nature gives rise to deviance and completely abnormal behavior.

You can change the world, you can change governments, systems, cultures, religions etc, but you will never change the basic human being's nature.... That will ultimately be the fatal flaw for all of humanity.

We will find ways to hate, fight and make war until????..... Violence is always the solution to everything, even for OWS eventually... One way or another.

The human-animal conquers all.

Divorce rates have risen because of the emptiness in relationships and frivolity of marriage. The Britney Spears 52 hour marriage is the perfect example. Marriage is not about devotion or partnerships anymore. It is a status symbol that is rushed into largely because of social pressure, religious repression, and the economy of weddings and how their importance is impressed upon girls from a young age. The culture creates Bridezilla. People don't find out whether they like each other until after they live with each other for a year.

My marriage for example: I dated my wife for 10 years before we decided to make it legal. It's been five years since then and we are still happy as newlyweds. True story. I never cheated on her because I've never had to. Our relationship is based on mutual compassion, cooperation, communication and renewing attraction because we grow as people.

You can train a man to be a dog or to be a god. Our leaders want dogs, so dogs is what they get. Good dog.

"We will find ways to hate"

Yes you will and me and people like me will find ways to work around you.
