An interesting treatise on American democracy, and definition of "liberal" vs "conservative", can be found here.



The term "liberal" applies to those who favored a change toward political equality. Conversely the term "conservative" applies to those who favored continuing or increasing authoritarian rule, most often by a economic elite, often allied with military or religious elites.

This is a good evaluation of American govt. as well. It makes comparisons and gives examples of how our government is doing exactly what our Founding Fathers said not to do.

LOL "conservitive" The definition you posted definatly fits Bush...Slowly inching towards a "Totalitarian" government.. Promising tax "Breaks" that are only good if you're among the few that earn in the high 6 figure range or more...
