Kabul, Afghanistan (CNN) -- On his knees, Nawroz prays. He is a condemned man about to die in a brutal way.

His crime: The killing of his lover's husband.

The judge: A local warlord in Kand, Afghanistan.

The executioner: The victim's father.

A mobile phone video captured the grisly scene.

Many have gathered to watch this act, sitting on dusty earth, in dappled shade.

Nawroz, wrapped in a white shawl, gets up from his prayer mat. His alleged victim's father is led by another man to Nawroz. "Hold the gun right," the man tells the father.

Bang.

Nawroz falls to the ground.

Well, it looks like we have brought democracy to Afganistan. Mission complete!

The victim's father gets to execute his child's murderer?
How evil!
Oh, wait... Nope, that's exactly how it should be. If I were in his shoes I'd be using a wooden spoon to execute the killer not relying on some faceless bureaucratic court to imprison him and then release him a few years later to kill again.
This should be law - vengeance is up to the family, it is no concern of an outside body how and when to punish such a crime.

Weak-ass comment...

From Source:

"A growing majority of Afghans have been forced to accept the rough justice of Taliban and criminal power brokers in areas of the country that lie beyond government control."

Yes, those on the Periphery had a wonderful justice system prior to being invaded...NOT.

And even if the populace embraced democracy, what makes you think this style of justice would disappear..?

They would just vote on the type of execution...

But back to criticizing the Afghans...

Just gotta love sharia law...

Jalaludin, who witnessed Nawroz's execution, said Mustafa gathered local mullahs to reach a verdict according to sharia, or Islamic law.

"The mullahs asked the father to forgive Nawroz and to take some of his family's land and women in compensation," he said. "But the father refused, so the mullahs ordered an execution."

Do you have a child?
I wonder what Amanda Knox's parents would choose if offered some land, knowing that their daughter's killers are now free and embarking on a multi-million dollar chat show tour, film and book rights, etc?
"Can I use an RPG instead?'"

Did you miss the part that was Underlined? Tell me, what do those women (who were offered as compensation) have to do with the crime that was committed?

What's the big deal?
This guy murdered someone. They held a trial.
The verdict guilty. Sentence execution.

Somehow I don't think they have a jail to stick the guy in.

Democracy never had anything to do with the video or the actions contained in it. What it does highlight is the backwards 9th century mentality of an eye for an eye. We could always show the video of the family forgiving a person who killed one of their family members. Good thing the Taliban morons were there, since they decided themsleves to kill the person, even though the family spared his life.

No amount of democracy can change the mindset of the 9th century.

I was not Amanda Knox who was murdered It was Meredith Kercher who was murdered. Amanda Knox was cleared of involvement in it. You really need to read up first before being caught out.
But just incase you call me a liar:

PERUGIA, Italy - American student Amanda Knox, who was convicted by an Italian court for the 2007 murder of her roommate Meredith Kercher, was acquitted Monday by an appeals court.
