I really dunno when people are going to wake up to this kinda thing. When they own enough of the land and companies the'll start putting pressure on the government to let them bring in their own people to operate the mines and everything else the will own. Then they'll have enough cloth to influence government foreign policy and other domestic social welfare policy etc etc.

The more this kinda thing goes on the more we are at risk of becoming foreigners in our own land.

That's why the current Federal government wants to introduce a mining resources rent tax, because the Australian Commonwealth is not being properly compensated for what is coming out of the ground.

Currently the miners are selling something on the world market a commodity they pay 1/10th of the sale price for. And most of that cost is for labour and infrastructure, not the actual commodity.

yeah but look how hard its been for them to bring it in. its a joke that the resource corps have control over the issue.
i worry about it going to the government tho because we all know it will be wasted. it should go directly to original custodians of this land so they can rebuild what we took for them and are continuing to destroy.
these companies make me sick, especially the stuff they do in 3rd world nations.

.... "Welcome to sunny Queensland, beautiful one day - SOLD OUT THE NEXT!!"

One would like to think that her humble Father would be turning in his grave knowing how his pioneering days of mineral exploration has come to be.

Australia is the 4th largest exporter of coal globally, with the State of Queensland being a major contributor. Yet, the mining sector in Queensland accounts for only around 2% of the States employment and over 80% of the wealth goes offshore!!

With the State of Queensland being Billions of $$ in debt and struggling to maintain it's AAA rating, it's of no surprise to see it have an open door policy to foreign investment.

While slightly off topic, the Federal Government, which by the way doesn't benefit directly from mining royalties, has the audacity to attempt to introduce a Carbon Tax!! - WTF!!

.... "Queensland" in written form is abbreviated as QLD, it is now sadly becoming effectionately known as QuarryLanD.
