Plane crashes at Nevada air race, dozens injured

(Reuters) - A vintage World War Two fighter plane crashed near the grandstand at a Nevada air race on Friday, killing the octogenarian pilot and injuring dozens of people, officials said.

There was no immediate word on how many other people may have died in the crash at the Reno Air Races, although a spokesman for the event called it a "mass casualty situation" in a written statement.

This is a very tragic situation, but a known risk of air shows. Older planes are less reliable, and performing stunts can obviously be dangerous. It's very unfortunate that it crashed directly into the crowd. My thoughts and wishes go to the familys of those who have been effected by the crash, and I hope those there aren't more fatalities.
