I have to disagree! It's alive and well in the Underground/Alternative area, but it's definitely a dead, rotten corpse in the mainstream. Hip-Hop music is one of the most abused genres ever.

only if you don't know where to look. "true" hip hop has never really been in the mainstream, even the more known "true" hip hop artists (ie, nas) have never gotten any real plays in mainstream radio.

hip hop, to me, is beautiful. i am absolutely fascinated by the english language and love to see it toyed with as they do in hip hop. metaphors, similes, personification, etc are what make this genre of music so unlike any other and amazing to me.
