Would you say that....

1. Television was a distraction?
2. Politics are a distraction?
3. Your job is a distraction (excluding passions and life work)
4. The Wars are a distraction..(RIP all who have died)
5. The internet and sites are a distraction?

If all of those were to end next week, would you have a reality? Or would it be the realist reality you might experience? Is all this "reality" then really an illusion?

Reality is a distraction keeping you from true spiritual growth... and yet it is necessary to guide you in the right direction... a Catch 22 if you will...

So agreed, but who teaches these other things? Not the systems.

People want and need distractions. If they had to stare reality in the face every minute of the day they'd end up with a mental break down.

Your statement is only true in our current situation. If we were a more harmonious civilization, we would not need distractions....we would enjoy every minute that we were able to be....it is not out of our reach...it is within our reach. There are engineers and architects that have already mapped out everything. This is not NWO, this is well...the other way it will go. So I guess stay tuned!

If all of those were to end next week, would you have a reality? Or would it be the realist reality you might experience? Is all this "reality" then really an illusion?

Whether something is a distraction or not depends on what your purposes are. If being involved with those activities distract you from your life purposes, then they are distractions.

I have some odd examples:
When I was a teenager and it was time to learn to drive, I was very involved in school work and saw the whole process of getting a license as a distraction. Now, you'd think that was pretty stupid, wouldn't you? But it made sense to me at the time!
During this same time period, I was absolutely fascinated with some of the programming I was able to find on TV. I saw almost every episode of The Prisoner when it aired in the US (as an example) and I value that experience greatly. I also saw many old films on public television that I would not have been exposed to otherwise. But when I got older, the TV became irrelevant to me. I haven't had one in my house since I was about 22.

All the activities you mention above are first and foremost GAMES. Any activity that has a purpose, freedoms, and barriers can be a game. Furthermore, there are at least 3 different ways a person can be involved in a game: As the creator of the game, as a player, and as a pawn.

If you find yourself in a game that you didn't create and you don't feel like you're really being allowed to play, chances are you're a pawn. Some games need pawns more than others. The ones that need human pawns to "work" are not exactly on the top of my list!

Any activity on your list could have some valid purpose in life, or could be done without. But I think the most vital and least easily-removed activity on your list is 3. Your job. A lot of people have jobs they "don't like." But that doesn't mean jobs are not important. What would happen if all the farmers decided their jobs were just "distractions" and went off to Tibet to find higher meanings in life? That wouldn't work out very well.

A lot of people "don't like" their jobs because they've never been made into real players, so the jobs aren't games for them. To be a real player in a job, you have to be well-educated about the game of that job. That is: Its purposes, its freedoms, and its barriers. If you know those things well, you have a chance to become a real player. And most real players like their jobs.

other people are a distraction.

their ideas
their dreams
their desires
their emotions

they have nothing to do with you

have you noticed how often people will say that "humans" need each other?
that is very true.

but what is a "human"?

a human is not the soul
a human is not the "I AM"
a human needs distractions to live.

why does the "soul" exist with a human? why does it need a human?

i have no idea... maybe its the same reason a human needs to daydream...

i like to think of it as all being "porn"
the word gives it the right context(IMO)

food porn
work porn
entertainment porn
conversation porn
introspective/self porn

lol

what isnt porn?
what in life isnt designed to distract you and fulfill a desire? its always temporary.
you never turn on the tv, watch a show, and feel eternally full with never any desire to watch again.
you never eat your last sandwich, drink your last glass of water, talk to your last stranger.

*shrug*

no idea, just rambling.

rambling porn.

And then...there is more to your existence...truly there is! I'm not a hippie or a light worker or any of those things...I feel that I am more of an artist..seeing light and dark, not judging though. So what does that make me...I guess I live on the Isle of misfit toys...if you get my drift!

Most activities can be considered distractions. Sporting events, Amusement Parks, Restaurants. If all of these were to end next week, we would finally have reality. The reality we have now is an illusion perfectly designed by TPTB to keep our minds from any real thought. Makes us easier to control. I for one would welcome the end to all of it.

The game (the scheme of this universe in 3d) is the best distraction i ever had since many years I could say
. Not playing it but funny to watch the many so endorsed in it.
