I bought a used Springfield Armory GI 1911. This is my first 1911. When I bought it I did see some issues so I bargained and got a good deal, plus the money I won at the casino the night before I spent $150 out of pocket. I am having my local gun smith work on it. He is doing an upper reliability job on it, and I may need a new barrel because the lugs are a little worn. I already got a new guide rod spring, as well as new mag springs. Can anyone suggest somewhere online to find a GOOD replacement barrel for a decent price. I understand most will not just drop in and will require some machine work. I just don't want to end up paying for a Kimber when it is just a basic Springfield. Thank you in advance! Also please do not laugh at this post. I am still growing up in the gun world. I started with an EAA Windicator .38spcl 10 years ago and now own that, 2 Glocks, a Springfield XD, Beretta 9, and a 12 ga. Moss. So I wanted a 1911 to round out my collection with a .45 because I have no need for a .50 cal

When it comes to Springfield Armory firearms, I tend to get most of the replacement parts I need from Springfield Armory directly. However, they do not usually sell barrels.

If you need a new barrel for your 1911, I suggest using StormLake. They do pretty good work. I used them to get a new drop in barrel for my XD-40.
