well...That's just it..the soul. What if everything you considered to be you, your memories, beliefs ect, could be downloaded onto a hard drive and exist forever? would that not be your soul?

This reminds of the Ship of Theseus.

Depends on how we define "soul". If its some animating vital force, a copied mind is not a soul. Same if its some user operating force. We copied the hardrive on the system, not the user.

We could mimic the user though based on the data available.

Its still not the soul though. Its a doppleganger.

think there were any blacks involved in this project? Doubtful. And likely few women if any. It's those dastardly white men that give us this amazing technological world we live in.
