I really feel like the term psychopath has the potential to lead to the next witch hunts. When you really have to rely on the testimony of others to prove something, this can lead to bad things like witch hunts. The potential for abuse will be increased ten fold if some scientists say they found the gene for psychopathy.
Even if there isn't an official removal policy, imagine the talk around the water coolers. "I think John is a psychopath. He borrowed my stapler, and never returned it, and showed absolutely no remorse after I called him out on it." After that point, everyone who hears this will start watching John closely. And every time he does something on some list, everyone will be sure to know about it. Even if they are perfectly normal behaviors/states that people perform from time to time. But since everyone is looking for it, they will confirm their belief. I think it's called confirmation bias.
Don't get me wrong, if you think someone's a psychopath, use your best judgment and if you feel you should cut off the relationship, do so quickly! In most cases, it should be fairly obvious if someone's a psychopath or not. Just be careful not to start any witch hunts.

agree

but I think something needs to be done into politics, dont know if will solve the problem, but yeah, I see your point and its completely valid

but people need to at least acknowledge that they exist, since they are hurting people, not in a physical way, but psychological one

Yeah. The good news is that people can learn how to think on the same level as the psychopathic "breed" of humans. My ability to see things in the same way as a serial killer came from being surrounded by these types of people (not serial killers, but you know XD) in my own life. I'm not a psychopath because I'm capable of feeling genuine compassion for other people, yet this messed up style of thinking had to come from somewhere.

You are definitely onto something. The world is ruled by psychopaths and they control us in ways the average person is completely oblivious to. Even I could manipulate people into complying with a hidden motive of mine and I could easily get a number of people to deny I would do such a thing. I just choose not to do people over that way I guess.

I appreciate that someone is noticing that this is a subject worth mentioning.

However, I do want to note that Hubbard first wrote about this personality type in 1951, and that we have been working on exposing their most flagrant operations since the 1960's. So, good to have some more help on board!

And though they are the basic cause of every major problem on this planet, that isn't the whole story because this planet isn't the whole story.

But we may as well concentrate on this one since we are living on it right now. First step: DO take the data seriously. There is something to it. And an understanding that this type of being is active on this planet could make a big difference to you. The second step will be to learn to identify them and defend ourselves against them. And then we must learn to depower them.

Notice that I did not mention "getting rid" of them or "punishing" them. This approach would totally play into what they are trying to achieve on this planet. It will be the biggest temptation to resist.

if we try to "arrest" them or something like that, the powerful psychopaths will still be "cleared" anyway ... so, yeah, we need people to just become AWARE and to learn to spot, and to ignore these people

yeah, there's definitely many psychopaths in our political system. But what do you do about it? Listen to what their friends and families say about the politician? Probably the best option, but this just made me think of another question..
Why don't friends and family of politicians ever seem to be around? Why don't they ever get interviewed? Why do we listen to the politician, and not known associates? No wonder so many politicians are psychopaths...

Well, some are making bad jokes; they should spend their time doing more useful things. Once you've dealt with a psychopath, you understand. These traits are real. My wife's ex is a psychopath. It took 9 years, a stay in jail and a legal ruling for him to stop harassing my wife with between 2 and 20 phone calls a day. When I told him to stop calling her, he simply started calling her at work. When I told him to stop calling at work, he started calling at home just to annoy me.

He manipulated his and my wife's daughter into believing my wife didn't lover her anymore because she'd left him and (3 years later) met me and started a new life. He manipulated a judge into getting full custody for himself despite the fact he doesn't have a job, or money and that this is just a revenge tactic. (My wife is a good mother who loves her daughter as any mother does). My wife's relationship with her daughter has been completely destroyed and her daughter has acts life her father.

Seeing these people in action is astounding. The worst is knowing you can't do anything about it. Unless you're willing to spend time in jail for murder.

One good point though; once you've dealt with one, you spot all the others from a mile away.

thanks for your post ... yeah, a lot of people not taking seriously, its sad

flag if possible, this subject needs some attention ...

one question: is it possible to request a test, to prove or not that a person is a psychopath in these custody cases?

good that you guys were able to get over it

OP you are spot on, and your considered approach to the subject is to be commended.

As others have noted already, once you have dealt closely with one it's easier to spot them and also understand how they are driven to manipulate and control others. Compassion at arm's length is my own approach after trial and error experiences.

Although they naturally seek power via business, I think these types are also often 'tapped' for positions of political power due to their personality traits, and in a twist of irony they are themselves manipulated in this way. History is littered with their names, but rarely in a good way.

Ongoing it is a very critical problem as it afflicts a broad spectrum of world leadership at a time of utmost peril. TPTB is essentially a club for 'elite' psychopaths. This problem wont solve itself.

There's a book out called Political Ponerology by Andrew M Lobaczewski (ponerology is the science and study of psychopathic 'evil'), which is on my to-read list and this thread will prompt me to follow up. Here's a link ponerology.com...

S&F for sure, well done.

All work and no play leaves Thinking Cap a dull boy...............................................
.............................
.

That said, great thread. This is something that everyone should be aware of when looking at some of the more serious conspiracies (example: missing children, 9/11, sugar in cigarettes) - "Which human, what group of people, could ever be capable of doing something so terrible?" - Because they do not have a conscience.

And I'd ditch the stats of 1-20 people. The idea is that all children are "sociopaths", but not in a necessarily negative way. It is that areas of a child's mind are not firing. Certain lightbulbs haven't been turned on. Conscience included. This is why the sons/daughters of Psychopaths are usually none the better, (George Bush Jr.) - It is because the psychopath tries to groom anyone impressionable into their image.

And guess what happens when they get their fingers in the music industry. Or how about many of the movies or television shows. Disney when you're young, FOX News when you're paying taxes.

I see your point. Darce I think hit it on the head in that some people do not have a conscience. There is no length they will not go to get what they alone want. Usually these people use their ambition to get money and then go on to get the power they crave. You especially see it politically and commercially.

I still err on the view that this (unrelenting selfishness) is a part of human nature because it initially gave our species the will to live and thrive. Another poster wrote about the animal part of the brain, we don't know what part of evolution has contributed to this trait.

If you look at the ability of cold reason, without emotion or conscience, that 'uncluttered' ability to make decisions is just a facet, provided it doesn't go on to feed a monstrous ego. Many people, when decision and action are needed rush about like headless chickens, we do need decision makers and leaders. We seem as a species to be at our best when we face huge challenges when we have to galvanize all our different personalities together, but that's usually the only time we, as a species, work as a whole, because that synergistic blend once separated again leaves us all with our different personalities with this facet or that governing our actions.

Hmm I disagree as i think our everyday lives in our communities paint a far more definitive picture of how we manage to Coexist just fine, whereas psycho/sociopaths seem to thrive and feed on crises. Indeed one of the underlying points of this thread is that many (if not most) human crises seem a result of manipulations to achieve such scenarios. Cui bono? They invariably increase their power and consolidate positions. For mine, ordo ab chao presents the antithesis of pure and true creativity.

I'd like to steer the discussion a tad and ponder a few questions. How many psychopaths are born like this and how many emerge because of the system? Many psychopaths don't begin their journey as one. However, they realize that in order to be successful, it's the only choice. The traits you attribute to psychopaths reads like a checklist of qualifications for corporate management and CEO's to politicians and lawyers - I could go on and on. Do we fault these people for trying to do the best they can for themselves as they work within the capitalist machine to achieve success, or do we fault the system itself for promoting these traits?

As the saying goes, nice guys finish last. The problem is that it's human nature to finish first - to win. It's a competition that encourages the psychopathic traits to flourish. I believe that the system must change if we want to decrease this behavior.

I have been thinking about this issue for a while and what to do. I can still remember the moment when I was about 4 or 5 and got in trouble at primary school for something. Things finally sank in with the lesson that I got when I got home. I had to think about the results of my action and how it felt to be the person I hit or received what I done. My whole perception of the world started to change that day, it was no longer all about me and I started to notice and care not just about myself, but what I done as well.

When looking at people like George Soros and how he was raised in a concentration camp during WW2 it does help explain how he could do some of the things he has done. Being raised is such difficult conditions he had to put himself first to survive. I was thinking that psychopaths was just a matter of perception, people have failed to establish an understanding that other people do feel pain just like them. While some psychopaths may say they know they cause pain, they have failed to accept their responsibility and see how they are defined by their actions.

Our brain does grow and adapt to what we value so the fact there are differences is no surprise, there are noticeable brain differences between republicans and democrats. The part with how they go to sleep and wake up quickly was surprising and does indicate there are some very deep issues of brain function going on. With empathy as I know it, sometimes I can feel the physical pain of others when near them. It is not as strong or as intense as it is for them but I do get a sense of what they are going through. Understanding of pain, awareness of situation and a general caring about the well being of people and the environment all help in this.

Wiki article on psychopathy is an interesting read.

en.wikipedia.org...

Among psychopaths, connection between amygdala (responsible for emotions and emotional learning) and frontal cortex (rational conscious thinking and behaviour) seems to be less developed than among normal people.

This connection, called the uncinate fasciculus, is the last white matter tract to mature in human brain during childhood. In a sense, small children are all psychopaths until their emotional responses mature.

I lived with a sociopath for about four years, she was good looking, clever, happy and very very sexy.I did not notice the sighns for quite a while well thats what they are good at (hiding there true self) but eventually i noticed how she was extremly selfish, manipulated those around her and didnt seem to understand other peoples feelings. You are probable asking yourself what took me so long(four years)well to begin with she reintroduced me to a party life, raves, party's,clubs, festivals, mdma, coke ect all things i had done to death in the past but i had not done for years.Still the real reson was the sex or should i say the great sex im talkin porn sex and sex while watchin porn, outdoor sex,sex in club toilets, bondage, anal, threesomes, shows for her female mates all while being videode so you can forgive me for being blind to her faults but in the end sex no matter how mental is no replacement for real emotion and eventally even great sex becomes boring. Then yoy realise all her sociopathic tendancies and you start to not like them at all and eventually you get out.Im now in a loveing relationship with a woman i love and im happy.
To finish my tale a word of warning if you find yourself in the romantic sights of a female sociopath enjoy the ride(excuse the pun)but dont stay to long she is bad for your emotional health.

Anyone who wakes up with sweat is a psychopath. Anyone who thinks different is a psychopath. Anyone with a don't care attitude is a psychopath.

Let me tell you folks. Humans are psychopaths. We are in an isolated planet for a reason. We can't stop making fool of ourselves by thinking that a mythic God created us with a special mold. We couldn't trust our neighbors out of fear. And we talk about psychopaths when in true case this whole planet is a place for psychopaths and we can't get it lol..

The thing with brain structure and bio-chemicals! Power corrupts so completely because of the relationship between psycho-emotional stimuli and the rush of bio-chems. Does this ireversibly (sp?) rewire the brain and how it works? Are psycho's born or can they be made?

I was involved with a sociopath for 5 years. It took me a while to figure it out. He was the BEST liar I have ever encountered. When questioned (or felt backed against a wall), they will spin it back on you - projection they are masters at.

They mimic emotions. They don't love like typical people. They "act" like they have feelings (love) towards you. They mimic what you give them.

They feel no remorse or guilt. They will cheat, when/if confronted, they will lie and make you think you are insecure or imagining things.

They are takers. You will feel emotionally drained. You will give, and they will take all they can get from you.

They will make you feel sorry for them, they love to work off of pity.

Nothing is ever their fault. They are always the one who got screwed over, misunderstood, etc.

Life is a game to them. It's about "winning". They will tell you what they know you want to hear, just to get what they want.

If you are ever in a relationship that feels "off", you can't put your finger on what doesn't feel "right", RUN....run fast and far. They will try to suck you back in, OR just move on to the the next person they can deceive. Or they will move on (discard you), but when they can't find another person to buy their crap, they will go back to the one who they know they can manipulate. As long as they get adored, an ego stroke, some one to care about their daily life/world, they will keep you around.

If you know the way they work, the best piece of advice is LISTEN TO YOUR GUT! It will sense something isn't right...listen to it! Before it's too late!
