The World Wide Web Celebrates 20 Years

August 06, 2011 Saturday marks the 20th anniversary of the World Wide Web becoming a publicly available service on the internet.

While many people use the terms web and internet interchangeably, they are in fact different services.

On August 6 1991, Tim Berners-Lee (now Sir), posted a short summary of the World Wide Web project on the alt.hypertext newsgroup.

The message read: "The WWW project aims to allow all links to be made to any information anywhere."

Article informs of Saturday being the birthday of the WWW with public availability. In 1991 of this month, the WWW project was posted as a summary onto newsgroup. In 2008 mobile phone desktop became more used than computer desktop. PC use down, but with ever growing WWW use, includes the 5billion cell users accessing it.
Basically it involves every facet of our lives, and predicted to grow even faster as countries develop...

Here's to a positive future, despite looming conspiracy, of our freedom or what we have left with web use!

Haha I glanced over the article assuming one thing, almost posted a reply then went for a fact check. and was smacked in the face that the very first sentence in the OP is saying EACTLY what I was about to say.

Happy Birthday WWW, been a wild 20 years. It all started with BBS for me. My how times have changed since those early days.
