Great Britain has charged eight suspects with conspiracy to commit murder and conspiracy to commit public nuisance with the use of radioactive materials, toxic gases, chemicals and/or explosives. One, considered a major Al-Qaeda operative, Abu Musa al-Hindi is suspected of the surveillance of financial institutions which caused the raising of the terror alert level in New York, New Jersey, and Washington DC.

LONDON � British police charged eight men with terrorist offences Tuesday, including some accused of possessing surveillance plans of financial institutions in New York City, Washington and New Jersey.

The men were arrested two weeks ago in a major sweep connected to raids in Pakistan and to Aug. 1 terror alerts in the United States, where officials warned that al Qaeda had scoped out buildings as possible targets several years ago.

man thats a lot of charges against them they must have over a 100 years each that ammount is crazy maybe some of them would think twice now these people have been caught.

Possessing a reconnaissance plan of the Prudential Building in New Jersey.
Possessing reconnaissance plans of the International Monetary Fund in Washington, the stock exchange and Citigroup, both in New York, and two notebooks with information on explosives, poisons, chemicals and related matters."

In a convoy of armed guards and police helicopter the eight men arrested in anti-terror raids two weeks ago have appeared in court today with the charges of conspiracy to commit a public nuisance by using radioactive material, toxic gas, chemicals or explosives.

All eight men were casually dressed and stood silently in the dock as the charges were read out.

A ninth man, Matthew Monks, 32, of Sudbury, London, held with them on 3 August appeared at the same court charged with possession of a prohibited weapon. He was released on bail.

Police have charged the eight with conspiring "together and with other persons unknown" between 1 January 2000 and 4 August 2004 under the Criminal Law Act 1977.
