Canadian links to global child porn network

www.cbc.ca

An unspecified number of Canadians are among 72 people charged with participating in an international child pornography network, U.S officials announced Wendesday.

A 20-month law enforcement effort called Operation Delego targeted over 500 alleged members of "Dreamboard" — a members-only internet club promoting pedophilia, said U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder and Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano.

So far, 43 people have been arrested in the U.S. along with nine foreign nationals. Another 20 are known to authorities solely by their internet names and remain at large.

I wish that these stories would come to an end by ending child abuse all together. I honestly don't know what to think in regards to the direction of society if revelations that "violent sexual intercourse with very young kids" is a reality.

What is to be done about this? Is what is being done is the most any agency that has been given the responsibility to end these crimes is the most they can do?

I would really like to know the answers to this. Unfortunately law enforcement cannot be everywhere at all times when it comes to child sexual abuse.

Is there anything that can change this to stop any and all exchanges of media of these abuses?

Most importantly can these abuses be stopped?

A 20-month law enforcement effort called Operation Delego targeted over 500 alleged members of "Dreamboard" — a members-only internet club promoting pedophilia, said U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder and Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano.

At a news conference at the U.S. Justice Department, the attorney general called the criminal activity a "nightmare" for the children and said that some of the children featured in the images and videos were just infants.

In many cases, the children being victimized were in obvious, and intentional, pain — even in distress and crying, just as the rules for one area of the bulletin board mandated, the attorney general said.

Fifteen arrested Dreamboard participants personally created child pornography, according to the Justice Department.

Napolitano said the amount of child porn swapped by participants in the network was massive, the equivalent to 16,000 DVDs. Assistant Attorney General Lanny Breuer, who heads the Justice Department's criminal division, called the criminal enterprise "a living horror."
(my bold)

The U.S. indictments were unsealed in Shreveport. La.

What will the future turn up next and can it be any worse then stealing a child's innocence?

Peace & Respect,

More often then not, it's the children's parents that commit these crimes against them. I just don't understand it.

There's much much worse out there than this though. You should see what's on the deep web.

Being that it is a board on the internet, yes this would be global.

In Adelaide, we used to have this group called the Brotherhood or something that would actually kidnap, rape, torture and kill young men, maybe in a sense local is worse? Does it speak on a global level of corrupted morals? Food for thought, not that it tastes good.

WOOO! That's what I like to see. Great links.

In response to black-shores: I already hinted. I don't dare say what's out there. I would be banned within a matter of seconds.

Its funny as I read the article I was thinking the exact same thing. How does one even find this stuff on the internet? Much less get into it where you are actually doing these kinds of things and uploading it for the whole world to see.

I am glad to see that at least one small group of children will be safe in the future from these idiots. Now if only the world could extinguish the rest of it globally.

S+F good inspiration!

you can message me if you think you'll get banned but... just saying what's out there... is not against the rules.

Ask the current Australian Government. According to them its just 'lying around all over the internet', hence their implementation of an internet filter to block this stuff (that no-one can find...).

The irony here is that the two individuals overseeing this operation, Incompetano and Holder, are criminals themselves. In which jail cells are they thrown, the ones to the left or right of the pedophiles?

Hrmm ... In the everyday person's mind, this would seem to be a much more logical reason to control the internet than rouge hacker groups such as Anonymous. The emotional response by people because of this would understandably be in favor of blocking this content at all costs and stop child abuse.

Leave the problem alone until it is so great that the majority calls for censorship ... but do not just include child pornography in a bill to be passed by many governments to regulate this issue ... but a whole host of other things.

Very interesting... and disturbing,

how is it possible ? People create webpages and a webpage needs to be hosted... It goes through a server! The moment it is uploaded why does the server allow it to be online? Surely it would be taken off? IP address location secured and then ... people arrested...

how hard is that?

The filter being implemented by some ISP's here (as 'encouraged' by the Government), works on a Blacklist. What is on that Blacklist, no-one but them knows. It does nothing to block email, torrent & peer to peer sites (that most of this rot is peddled over).

It has cost the Australian taxpayer millions. As in this news article, I'd much rather see this money spent on catching these perverted sickos than just whacking a filter on us all. Catching & breaking up these rings helps the poor children who suffer at the hands of these types of A-holes.

Applying a mysterious filter (that is easily bypassed via proxies yada yada), is just the Government sticking their heads in the sand whilst children keep being harmed.

Not to mention it provides them an easy ‘in’ when it comes to further censorship.

EDIT: - I'm sure these sorts of sites aren't being hosted on your every day type public server too.
