When You're Hot, You're Hot

Topic started on 17-8-2004 @ 01:53 AM by BOHICA

A five-year-old boy died after clambering into a fridge to escape the heatwave surging through Egypt.

The child went to the refrigerator for a cold drink and then climbed in with temperatures in Qena, Upper Egypt, reaching 40C (104F).

However, he did not die of suffocation. He was electrocuted as he kicked at the refrigerator door.

He experienced the feeling of being in Canada. It's either very very hot or very very cold.

I know what you mean.

But what gets me is that it took the relatives several hours to realize he was dead inside the fridge.

Did they have another fridge with cold drinks? Was the kid set up?

Poor baby... what a miserable death. Y'know, considering how dangerous fridges are for this precise reason, I wonder that they haven't begun putting in a panic button or lever on the inside for just such an emergency. I see people dump old ones all the time without taking the doors off like they're supposed to. They're beginning to put escape levers in car trunks on some models, I think, so why not a fridge that can be opened from inside?
