No doubt, earthquakes are devastating disasters, and although there’s little we can do to prevent them, we can at least alert ourselves if an earthquake is coming. A teen / boy from Chile has created just that, a rather interesting earthquake detection system that utilises Twitter.

Now THAT would be something! If a child creates a cure for cancer or finds a hospitable planet in the universe. It would be a lot harder to keep that under wraps by TPTB

Check out this thread. It's a good read. Also check out 'The Beautiful Truth' movie [Watch Here].

And thank you for the article. Nice to see educated kids who think outside of the box. This will hopefully inspire some other people to do the same.

A TERRITORY neurologist has built a home-made seismograph which can pick up earthquakes from as far away as Alaska.
Will you be the first in your street to know?

The kid from Chile didn't create the detector, he just modified one that he bought for $75 and then connected it to his computer.

Could you do that?

Right ... so just HOW does this so-called "earthquake detector" of his ACTUALLY detect earthquakes around the world ... or is it supposed to "predict" earthquakes and then send out automatic tweats?

Or perhaps I've simply misunderstood it's function due to the complete lack of technical details and theory behind it ?

There are already cures for cancer - Big Pharma is suppressing them and attacking those who promote them.

he bought a quake detector, that sounded an alarm when a quake was going to come, disconnected the alarm and made all the circuitery to connect it to a pc, so the alarm doesn't just sound at his home but also sends a tweet about the quake coming.
IMHO, and having seeing the thing working by myself (i follow him on twitter, and the last time we had a quake here, i got the alarm like 10 or 20 seconds before) for being a "homemade" device, this boy really deserves a price. He's from Santiago, so his tweets are mainly from this region, but he plans to build some more and put them on their relatives homes in several zones of the country. Dude, the boy is really a genius and he deserves an award. Those seconds are vital if a big quake strikes, you can turn of you electronic devices, go to a safe place, etc. and he's only 14 y.o!

Wait, which one is it then? The goverment or the Big Pharma? Or does the government own the Big Pharma? And which government are we talking about here?

If you still think they are separate, you've got some catching up to do.

Whatever the devices real purpose, the kid looks young.. and for him to be thinking outside the box and messing with stuff like that at his age is awesome
