(CNN) -- Bolivia's president told CNN en Español Wednesday that he remains afraid that the United States government is plotting against him.

"The United States, as a global power, has all the experience of creating setups," President Evo Morales said.

Really now?
I didnt know that!

Over the weekend, Morales said he was worried U.S. authorities would plant something on his presidential plane while he attended the U.N. General Assembly meeting in New York.

From what I can tell at the moment, he wasnt arrested or anything during the meeting on Wednesday.

"When presidents do not submit to the United States government, to its policies, there are coups," he said.

Will al-qaeda start rapidly showing up down in Bolivia pretty soon?

Here's a little history on US-Bolivia relations from the article.

Bolivia and the United States have had diminished relations since September 2008, when each country expelled the other's ambassador. Morales, a strong proponent of the cultivation of coca plants -- the source of coc aine -- expelled the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration a month later. He also delivered a strong verbal criticism of the U.S. government at the United Nations General Assembly that year.

The US rejected his claims.

"(The U.S. ambassador) had meetings with the opposition," Morales said Wednesday, and noted that U.S. officials in Bolivia had tried to stop his government from forming alliances or agreements with Cuba, Iran and Venezuela.

This guy seems highly paranoid. Of course he could be telling the truth also and be genuinely scared of losing his life. Oh well Morales you told the media so if anything happens we know you were right. Until then enjoy being the President of Bolivia... Champagne wishes and Caviar Dreams!

Maybe US wants a bigger cut of his coc aine business and its easier to kill him and plant a shill/puppet and get ALL of it.

He has a right to be scared.

My god...
What ignorance...

You should inform yourselves about Bolivia, it's history, it's culture and traditions, for the indigenous people there, the cultivation of coca is part of their lives even BEFORE coc aine even existed.
Evo morales, it's NOT a drug-lord, he's NOT a terrorist, etc...
Read about his life what he always fought for, and you'll realize he's a humble man, very smart even though his way of speaking makes him look dumb (his first language is Aymara not spanish) and he has the overwhelming support of the PEOPLE of Bolivia because he's one of those rare breeds that actually DO what they PROMISED.
He had the BALLS to stand against the DEA, the CIA and many alphabet agencies, and he SHOWED evidence of the US funding the extreme-right opposition in several coup attempts...
So yeah, if he says he fears a set-up, i'd trust him.
