Monsanto official Beaten by farmers in India over Failed GMO Bt Cotton Seeds

This is a couple days old. Did an ATS Search and did not find and threads.

I am very interested in how Monsanto will react to one of their own being attacked.

Monsanto officials beaten up by Cotton farmers as Bt.cotton seed failed When news of a Monsanto senior official's arrival from Mumbai reached the nearby village of Munjala, cotton farmers of the village Karanji, about 140 K.m. from Nagpur located the Monsanto official and took him to their field where a complete failure of ‘Paras Sudarshan’ Bt cotton seed was shown to him. When the Monsanto representative failed to admit the lapse, he was severely beaten up by the farmers. It was reported that even a local agriculture officer did not come to his rescue.

Please note that this story originated in a BLOG and I found only the news link in the OP while doing a Google News search for additional information.

May need to take with a grain of salt or in this case a failed Bt Cotten Seed.

I read about this a long time ago, It basically says how they introduce the seed over there to make money. Since the crop will only last one season the farmers will have to buy more seeds from "monsanto" in order to harvest next years crops.

It was said that millions would eventually go broke and starve after the GMO seed was introduced. And now here we are 2years later and its all coming true.

The documentary is called Food Inc.

Yeah, I argued against Monsanto in another thread where there was someone defending them.

He thought it was okay to do this kind of thing to people.

I think it took Indian farmers to bring perspective to Monsanto's BS.

There were farmers committing suicide because of this practice.

On topic - the documentary called "Food Inc." gives some good information as to what Monsanto does to American farmers. It is an eye-opening film for those who have never heard or seen how our food is produced in this country. I dislike Monsanto, don't want to buy their food (although it's difficult to avoid it), and I can understand the frustration of these Indian farmers. Would I advocate violence? Not sure,.... although sometimes it seems the quickest way of getting one's point across.

I also know I should not be "happy" about another human getting beaten..
But i honestly don't even consider Monsanto, or those who perpetuate what Monsanto is..

he was just an employee, not the physical representation of monsanto. i think its more than likely the guy couldnt care less about the ideals of who he works for and was just doing his job.

its sad to see people taking delight in hearing someone got beat up.

The man has blood on his hands for KNOWINGLY pushing a product that causes people to suicide at the rate of one every 30 minutes. Since 1995, 250,000 Indian farmers have committed suicide.

I read some stories about their dissatisfaction months ago, always having to buy new seeds every year and unsuitable seeds at that. I also saw a video on it. If I can locate them, I'll post again about it.
