Since the OP got his answer, I'm gonna hi-jack this thread for a sec.

How do you make a mini-profile picture as large as yours with the text at the bottom? Do you need to make the avatar and background picture overlap perfectly?

You need to use the 170x240 blank .gif as your avatar and the 180x500 background picture is of your choice. Make sure you slot them in the correct boxes in your profile.

How or where do you get a blank gif of that size because the whole situation is really starting to get irritating.

You would think it would be a lot more simple process with less restrictions but noooooooo...

copy this link then go to to Tools midway down the page you will see "Your Avatar" paste the link then submit and you are done.

My avatar is clear and I almost never change it, only the backgrounds get changed, it's easier I think.
Backgrounds can be up to a maximum of 200px wide by 700px long.

with a clear avatar of 170 pixels wide by 240 pixels high.

Using the clear avatar will cause the text in your mini profile to be pushed to the bottom of your profile as it would with an avatar.

Maximum File Size: Maximum file size for mini-profile backgrounds is 100k if you're using a clear-GIF as your avatar, if not, the combined file size of your avatar and background image cannot exceed 150k.
