As for the porn, ROFLMA, good luck with that you nut job. So the first women president in history is going to take away something that the vast majority of Americans use as entertainment?

No wonder Republicans hate there candidates, given a choice Id let that traitor Obama take away my guns before I let this crazy women take away my porn. Middle finger to the left and another one to the right, they can both kiss my freedom loving white a#$.

They'll take away your guns while they let her take away your porn

Oh so sorry

This woman is clearly just another Sarah Palin here to be a distraction, but I don't think she has Sarah's staying power

What a waste, to live life so closed minded,

First, "Whilst" is not a word. Second, this thread is not about homosexuality. If it were, I would tell you that yes, it is a choice, as is all sexual preference. This is not debatable, it is a fact. This topic is not here to debate that point and we agree, this women is a closed minded baboon who shockingly passed the bar somehow.

Wha? "Whilst" isn't a word? Since when? Of course it is.

Call me a radical, but i like it, since the begining of the great depression, i feel like our culture has fallin down hill, partly due to our slipping cultural standards, so i agree

EDIT : By the way, i like this idea, not her, personally i wouldnt vote for her. It may seem odd, but ive always considered myself a pragmatic libertarian, and that is one of the only things i think should truely be banned besides some hardcore drugs.

I am so sorry that you feel that keeping people in cheque is the way forward and the slippery slope that our society has fallen down has absofreakinglutely nothing to do with porn or homosexuality as this is nothing more then a con and a well crafted diversion play meant to distract each and everyone of you's away from the real targets.

Porn has been around for thousands of years and can be traced to China like 5 - 6,000 years ago.

Problem is if you ban and outlaw porn that it would make it a criminal act to posses or look at it which causes and will no doubt leave already cash strapped states to finance these new arrivals in each detention centre. There would be north of a half million plus arrests each month which would double the current prison population in as little as 24 months as there is something like 4 Million imprisoned people now.Besides, delete companies like Hustler or Playboy and that allows TPTB and the Mafia to put a clear monopoly on it which would make an already bad problem even worse. Realize the long range and short range immediate implications of what you back as the ends does not always justify the means. Besides, it is every American's God given right to produce, view and distribute porn if they want.

I was sad to see this thread devolve (like so many) into that whole left/right, Christian/Heathen bickering thing that so many threads seem to resolve to, because there's some really juicy stuff just below the surface of this story.

First, has everyone read the actual pledge? "The Marriage Vow"
It's a pretty scary document, that is unless you're a radical Christian conservative. Scary as it is though, signing it only means they promise to support those ideas, and is what a candidate needs to do in order to receive an endorsement from the THE FAMiLY LEADER group.

Who Dey?
THE FAMiLY LEADER mission statement

Mission The FAMiLY LEADER provides a consistent, courageous voice in the churches, in the legislature, in the media, in the courtroom, in the public square…always standing for God’s truth.

And what's with the creepy lower case "i"?
lower case "i", why oh why?

Bob Vander Plaats is a frequent Iowa gubernatorial candidate who leads the conservative Iowa organization THE FAMiLY LEADER. (Are you wondering about the "i"? Yeah, they made that lowercase to symbolize the smallness of the individual ego which must be subordinated to the long-term interests of American children. I’m serious.)

So another far right wing hate group dressed up like God's best people, ok, we've seen plenty of those. Wolves in shepherds clothing, so to speak...they must get their funding from like minded bigots, right?
Think again.
And again.
Once again.

The same group received more than half of its funding from federal grants over a five-year period when it operated under a different structure as The Iowa Family Policy Center.

Nice. You and I paid them. Gotta LOVE it.

I guess that's the only part that really bothers me (so far, besides their bigoted close-mindedness, but that's a given), is that I'm helping fund these bozos, beyond that I don't see much more than a bunch of extreme rightys doing their usual "gimme a G! gimme an O! gimme a D!" thing. Hopefully SOME of the money helped someone who truly needed it.

Thanks OP, I'm having fun this morning learning about these fine people!

I could post a very long response, but I don't think you could possibly understand or grasp it. So, there is no need for me to do that. It would waste my time and yours.

That is a loaded statement. Can you explain why you think that? I thought rape was supposed to be an act of violence, not sexual outlet.

Wow. A Republican that makes sense!!!

Gary Johnson Outraged By 'Marriage Vow' Pledge
www.huffingtonpost.com...

Johnson calls the pledge "offensive and unrepublican," an "[attempt] to prevent and eliminate personal freedom," and finally, the "type of rhetoric" that "gives Republicans a bad name":

Government should not be involved in the bedrooms of consenting adults. I have always been a strong advocate of liberty and freedom from unnecessary government intervention into our lives. The freedoms that our forefathers fought for in this country are sacred and must be preserved.

This "pledge" is nothing short of a promise to discriminate against everyone who makes a personal choice that doesn’t fit into a particular definition of "virtue."

Rape is an outlet for sex. In order to have the sex however, you must use violence. That is why rape is illegal.

Rae would not increase if porn was banned. Our freedoms would certainly diminish at a faster clip, but rape would stay the same im betting.

Amazing. The "rule of thumb" is that rape is about power, dominance and humiliation of another human being. Your comment is diabolically opposed to every "professional" out there who speaks about rape. However, I agree with you.

Only modern day "professionals" who fort some reason want to have us all believe that the intense high of orgasm isnt what rapists desire.

Its the raw law of nature, not to be confused wit the much more prevelnt law of society which is what civilized folks mostly abide by. Use force to acheive your orgasm and go to prison. Whats wrong with just calling it what it is.

I back this too. It doesn;t take a degree to realize that porn definitely gives the sexual deviant an outlet for their hunger so to speak. If they've been struggling with their thoughts of sexual misconduct and relying on the porn, and it is them taken away, they're going to hurt someone. Rape is not only about violence and control. It is sexual at its core. That's what seperates rape from a beating. It's a sex crime.

I could see that now. I figured a rapist trying his hardest to use another mean than an actual pretty female (which he cant get) to acheive orgasm would use more prostitutes than porno (if it was banned).

Prostitution is illegal though in most places (gov should not be interveining with prostitution in the first place but thats anogther thread), so I coulkd see the rapists reaching his breaking point without some porn or prostution.

I totally agree. It is a sex crime. So why isn't it called a sex crime? Well, it is sexual assault, but again, today, it is a crime of violence and power, nothing to do with sex. I read excerpts from "The Natural History of Rape: Biological Bases of Sexual Coercion." There are a few critical reviews of the book, but I would like to read it, as it does seem to reflect my belief about rape.

Banning implies a punishment for those who produce, sell and consume porn.
Punishment will eventually mean prison sentences.

As another ATS thread points out, USA prisons (and many others) are well-known rape factories.
They are rape factories with no access to condoms or clean needles for heroin addicts.
They are HIV/AIDS factories sanctioned by the Christian right-wing pornography of violence and war.
Yeah, and then make gay people judicial subjects again, and we have a nice mix of disease and death factories for victimless crimes.

Most of those repeat male "masturbators" will be released into a society where only sexual coupling is sanctioned.

You must really hate your own people to even consider such a scenario.

Why don't you just castrate everybody at puberty, and keep some semen for impregnation?

That will solve all your moral problems and sick, ridiculous plans for your unfortunate humanity.
People who even argue this are enemies of the human race, and should be jailed immediately for spreading genocide.
