Well it used to mean something here.. but now it has been corrupted.
Now it means "well, all i have is opinions so maybe discrediting this persons logic will bring people to my side"
I'm tired of 'Deny Ignorance' being used like its supporting evidence or something.. so next time your about to say deny ignorance just put "I don't have facts to back me up"

Now there are sometimes when people really are ignorant but even then instead of just saying deny ignorance wouldn't it be better to do away with their ignorance by informing them?

your thoughts?

Absolutely right!

It is spelled "there" not "their".

Perhaps "address ignorance" would be better? Sounds more cooperative

But I doubt the phrase will change, and ego will continue to steer some into attack mode, but overall, seeking the truth should be coveted, and respect should be considered, cuz it's more conducive to learning, imo.

Deny ignorant is a straw sentence which is being abused here.

It tells us to inform each other in the way they want.

For the owners It is like ' get me what I want '.

First I would like to say I consider the original meaning of "Deny Ignorance" right.

I don't like to use that phrase (deny ignorance) because I saw many times pseudo-gurus used it to stamp their posts like the final statement that will close the case.

We should add now another phrase now : "Deny Arrogance".

You're right mb, Deny Ignorance is just the overall motto in our quest to find the truth, I don't understand why people use it to back themselves up, its like one of those sayings they just killed lol. S&F good thread!

Yes I have to agree. No one listens to someone who is over aggressive.

It only seems fitting that if we are going to remove something so delicate we offer in it's place something of value.

Absolutely.

ABOUT ABOVE TOP SECRET - DENYING IGNORANCE
By ATS Discussion Board member, tjack

This motto has life. It has purpose. It demands ATS members to think.

It is a state of mind.

It is a sense of purpose.

It is a statement agaisnt the paradigm.

It is a rage against the mindless status-quo.

The idea of "deny ignorance" isn't a goal that ATS hopes to accomplish. Instead, it's a challenge. A call to all those who come here to aspire to a higher state of awareness through informed discussion and debate.

Deny ignorance is what we do.

It's how we think. It's how we talk. It's how we listen.

Ignorance is the creeping crud of history that has clouded our minds and dulled our brains. Is the evil that men do, the reason history repeats, and the cause of intolerance.

We deny it. it's not welcome here. Within these boundaries, it has no strength.

Here, ignorance is denied.

I look at the “Deny Ignorance” phrase as meaning I will listen to what you have to say, and form my own opinion…even if it disagrees with yours.

It’s the same as my mood: “Humbly Arrogant,” Life keeps teaching me lessons that humble me, yet it has taught me things that I will fight for, regardless of altruistic beliefs. Because sometimes, it has been proven that they just don’t work.

I find a thread about linguistic semantics a little dull...

Unfortunately Deny Ignorance is not truly embraced here. A more appropriate motto might be "ignore truth" and "drink the kool aid".

Not a "linguistic semantic" problem. The problem is the trace of a superior complex in some of the posts where that phrase had been used, (not in all).

Other example of the bad use of a phrase in ATS : "Pics or it didn't happen". I believe in Jesus The Christ and got no pic of Him.
