JUNE 21--An Amish man who sent hundreds of sexually charged text messages to a 12-year-old girl was arrested last week when he drove a horse and buggy to an Indiana restaurant where he had arranged a rendezvous with the child, according to police.

Nabbed in an undercover sting, Willard Yoder, 21, is facing four felony counts for allegedly soliciting sex from the minor. Yoder, pictured, is free on $20,000 bond. In one text, Yoder told the girl that, “the proposed sex act would happen inside the buggy,”

Yoder’s contact with the girl began with a random text sent to her phone. When the child’s parents learned of their daughter’s contact with Yoder, they took control of her phone and continued communicating with Yoder, who sent about 600 texts, as well as nude photos and explicit videos to the girl. Investigators noted that Yoder, who was busted outside the eatery, was cooperative and “walked his horse and buggy around the building and tied it to a post outside.”

I have one Amish group getting ready to do my roof over. I have to call at a certain time so they can be at the phone at the end of their lane. I kid you not. Makes it hard to deal with them, at times but you can't beat their cost of doing a job. Anyway.

I just don't know what to think. The Amish around my place suffered a major loss a few years back when a gunman took over an Amish school house and kicked everyone out-except the little girls. His plan was to shackle them on their knees to a hog post and have his way with a whole line of them. He was killed by police.

Others have been arrested for Coke dealing. Yep. But, sexting.... I just can't see it. Anyway, I guess Tech and old time religion catches up to each other. I smell a movie or something about this one.

i have a hunch the disciplining this young man is going to face from his community is going to be much worse than what the law will give him. or he will turn his back on his Amish roots and continue to go downhill.

lol at the pictures, and your misspelling in the title (an atheistic slip?). This is one of those weird stories which, although a sad topic, will be picked up by comedians. If the girls were of age, I'd think about it. Buggy sex, the ultimate aphrodisiac, don't knock it till you rock it...

Was this guy a real amish person or was he once amish and now lives in an outcast village. The kind where they don't want to live strictly amish. They kind of mesh together some amish views with the modern world. That would explain the cell phone.

I doubt if the media will go into that, but either way atleast this pervert is off the streets.

I know a couple of amish families here in GA and they are some of the nicest, honest people I have ever met. They will literally give you the shirt off their backs if you need it.

Every great tomato patch has a rotten tomato. Sexting boy is their rotten tomato. There has always been an issue with an Amish kid here or there. They think Rumspringa will get it out of their system, but sometimes it only makes the desire stronger to break away from the religion and culture. These days everything is way too easy and plentiful. Back when... before computers and cellphones.. he would have had to solicit a child to satisfy his pedophile weirdness face to face, today he can pretend he is removing himself through texting. Sorta sanitizes the sin. This guy though... he is just a perv and a criminal. He obviously knew 12 was a tad young for buggy-sex.

I agree with you that there are occassions when a young Amish person may wrestle with his religion etc. And that this fellow is a perv, but also Amish.

Which just shows they are no different than the aveage human so.... come on up to the 21 century and use a car at least. God gave us minds so we can make our lives better... not stay locked in the 18th century.

The Amish are human just like anyone else. Do not put them on a pedistal or exoticize them just because they happen to live differently. Don't get me wrong, I have great respect and admiration for the Amish ethos, as a way of life. But it doesn't erase human evil, which is found universally in all times and places humans congregate.

This isn't surprising to me at all. I used to live in the heart of Amish country and some of the stuff I've personally witnessed by them is insane. This guy may have left the Amish community and did what he did. There is a period of time that all young Amish people go through to interact and do things in the "modern world" to see if they choose it over living as the Amish do. He was probably swayed.

Two of the most funny to me was when I was working at a local Kmart this one older Amish man would drive his buggy up and tie it off and wait for this one woman to drive up and around the back of the garden center where I was working and they would have a romp. Every Wednesday at the same time on the dot. Manager didn't do anything about it.

Then there are the young men who would manage to pick up a cosmo or other female oriented magazine and hide behind the corner huddling around it as if it were the holy grail of porn. Was quite funny the looks on their faces when I walked up on them to ask them to stop loitering. The look of shock and fear of being caught with "pornographic contraband" was hilarious.

Also the Amish can own tech. Most of the time they have others to use it for them. A lot of the families around there owned simple black or dark blue cars which they hired non Amish drivers to chauffeur them around in.
