Pakistan 'blocking supplies to US base'

Pakistan is blocking food and water from reaching a remote base used by the US for its secret drones programme, severely hampering counter terrorism strategy, according to a senior American official.

Both sides are now briefing against the other as hostility between the two countries grows more intense – and more open – day by day.

Pakistan's military has not recovered from the humiliation of failing to detect an American raid last month that killed Osama bin Laden and has reduced or halted co-operation with the US in protest.

A senior American official told The New York Times that supplies had been choked off to the airbase and that they were gradually "strangling the alliance" by making things difficult for the Americans in Pakistan.

The drones programme, although never publicly acknowledged by the US and repeatedly condemned by Pakistan, is credited with killing a series of high-profile targets.

Hmm... aren't those drones piloted by people IN THE US? What the hell? Is the ``secret military base`` in Afghanistan or Pakistan? If it's in Pakistan, what is Pakistan waiting to close it down?

This is weird. And another ``escalation`` in the Pakistan-US relation.

Yeah I don't believe this story. We have another route via Russia just for this reason. Let alone they can always fly supplies in. Also it would be the base that the drones fly from. The long range drones are operated here but that is just for surveillance not attacks.

That right there sums up the arrogance of us Americans.

Pakistan is "strangling the alliance" by making things difficult for AMERICANS in Pakistan? Yeah, because we aren't making things difficult for Pakistan at all... we're just organizing drone strikes from inside their country and performing illegal military raids inside their borders.

This so called "American official" embarrasses me.

It's one of those "tacit approval" things. Pakistan is good at rhetoric. It makes them sound like they're "taking a stand".

If that is in fact happening then the troops are cracking open their MRE's and bottled water, which i'm sure they've had on hand from the get go, just in case.

Wow. If this is true, Pakistan has finally grown a pair is is sitting at the big boy table.

This will not end well.

Not in the least.

China just sent 50 advanced JF-17's to Pakistan to retain control of their airspace.

Pakistan WAS getting non-chinese versions of the JF-17...supposedly these 50 have some advanced electronics to deal with the US.
