Volcanic eruption in Eritrea
It started 6 hours ago
search for it and it appears NOWHERE on the news despite the obvious large ash cloud.
This is the only site mentioning it in the google results.

The eruption cloud is now over Khartoum Sudan

S & F

If you look at it on Google Earth with the cloud function on, it is definitely coming from the Nabro Volcano.

Thanks for posting this

We have to follow this one. Of course, because it's in deep Africa and that nobody cares about Africa, it will not be on the news.

Nice find!!! Goes along with the not reported ethiopian quakes! Here it comes. Wonder if this is from the huge CME the other day?

Earthquake / Eruption summary : During the late afternoon and evening of June 12 2011, a series of moderate earthquakes struck the Afambo, Eritrea area. The moderate earthquakes were followed by 2 strong 5.7 earthquakes. Based on the earthquake pattern and the locations of the epicenter, volcano activity seemed imminent.

Important request to Eritrean and Ethiopian readers : If anybody of our readers has friends or relatives close to the area of the volcanoes would you be so kind to ask them for more information. Please let us know by the form below.

UPDATE 13/06 – 07:23 UTC : We are still guessing on which volcano erupted. Opinions change from Dubbi to Nabro. The satellite images are not convincing. The local press has not even mentioned this volcano eruption (at least not the ones we are following)

Eritrea is in east Africa, Chile is in South America... Two different continents, thousands of miles apart... Of course the wind may be blowing in a different direction (facepalm)

Learn some geography!

As for the OP, thanks for the heads up! The people of Eritrea have enough to deal with

Certainly something I thought when I read about it, I do at present have a gut feeling that solar activity, and earthquakes have a correlation of sorts.

Thanks for this. Of course, not a peep about it on the MSM. Worthless.

Here's a few updates I found through blogs and such. The volcano that is erupting is Nabro, and has no known historical eruptions. I hope someone gets some groud photos of the plume. I think volcanoes are beautiful. Terrifying but beautiful.

I saw a picture of Nabro and it is blowing to the West, regardless, if they are blowing different directions it is probably due to the fact that Nabro is in the Northern hemisphere and Chile's being in the Southern hemisphere.

The BBC sent a tweet about it-

(From @BBCWorld twitter account)
Hillary Clinton cuts short trip to Africa because of the risk of an ash cloud from a volcano in Eritrea moving towards Addis Ababa
