Actually 100% of the moon is always visible to us because of the light of the earth.

Sorry for the gif file but I thought I had a still loaded.

There is no dark side of the moon.

This is from a decade old Sony digital camera with a simple zoom lens and a timed exposure. The green is lens flare. There is however a very slight moon halo, (round rainbow).

the correct term is, 'the far side of the moon'

because of tidal lock, the moon always faces Earth, the far side, being in near darkness when we have a full moon here on Earth, but during the new moon, and eclipses, the far side of the moon is the only side that is illuminated by the sun. now refering back to tidal lock, we can never see that illuminated portion of the moon from Earth.

100% of the moon is NOT visible from Earth EVER...

that is due to tidal lock. the moon rotates(just like Earth) every 28 days, it also orbits Earth every 28 days...

this is why the same side of the moon is always facing us, and why we have the term, the far side of the moon.

the only time we have ever been able to view this far side is from objects that have left Earths perspective
