Militants attack Pakistan navy base, four dead

KARACHI (Reuters) – Militants attacked a naval aviation base in the Pakistani city of Karachi on Sunday, killing at least four people, security officials said.

Intelligence officials said between 15 and 20 attackers were inside the Mehran base, and had attacked three hangars housing aircraft.

Witnesses said they heard sounds of gunshots and could see smoke rising from the buildings.

"We have four dead and five wounded but the number could rise," a security official, who declined to be identified, told Reuters.

Senior police official Tahir Naveed said attackers were fighting with base personnel.

Looks like a CIA op to make the militants look bad. Remember that Pakistan uses these people and it wouldn't surprise me that the best way to target them it to make them look like the bad guys to the Pakistani military. That way Pakistan which is a safe haven to these people would then become denied.

Wow, just wow.

some people want to reflexively blame the US for anything that happens, no matter what. Some people need a conspiracy to explain anything.

Militants in Pakistan routinely do stuff like that. And "to make the militants look bad"? They already look bad to everyone.

IF the CIA is involved, a militant attack is the perfect diversion while on an "intelligence" gathering operation.

Problem is, they aren't going to find what they are looking for on that base... Unless they capture some key Pakistani military leaders, and use "extraordinary" interrogation methods to find out what they need to know.

Good luck, this is a deadly serious game now... and its the 4th quarter, with only 2 minutes left in the game.

Boon, if people were actually aware of what is really going on, and what is at stake now, there would be mass panic, and well, we can't let the markets crash because of rumors, right?

Best they take things as they are being presented in the MSM for now.

It's still slightly possible to get the intel needed to halt the planned proxy attacks... What you don't know can't hurt you right?

is just plain wrong unless they attacked

Not if they've been working with the Chinese on a plot to attack the US and western interests, and to use Al Qaeda as a scapegoat for the attacks, which has changed to a retaliation for his unwarranted and "illegal" killing.

Just need to get the proof, bust up the cells in place, and then it's goodbye Pakistan.

What to do with China on the other hand will be a bit more complex.
