This is not about the benefit of one party or the other. Both parties will benefit because they both play for the same people in power. I am stressing that I feel our civil liberties are being condensed through such legislation of shortening early voting periods, and potentially throwing out all ballots cast by college students and lower income workers in the name of protecting elections from voter fraud.

1) There has been fraud reported in the past from other sources, including electronic ballots, and

2) because regardless of your income or social status in the United States, as a citizen it should be easier for the "casual" voter (or working class) to submit their elect for next governor when legislation being passed affects them most.

This is bipartisanship in disguise of left vs right because republican, or democrat... there are working class out there apart of both parties. People like you and I, it does not matter because we are all getting shafted in small amounts overtime. We sit back and scoff at the little things when it piles up until we finally see the bigger picture.

That is my point of view on the matter.

This is clearly a legitimate crackdown on voter fraud. We saw so much of it in 08, with the whole ACORN thing. Florida has it's share of illegals, and sudden changes in address to avoid raids by ICE can be a red flag.

The racist GOP mantra live and in living colour for the entire world to see, no covering or sidestepping anymore. Just blatant racism.

This is what you righties wanted right? Welcome to the American Nazi Party because Hitler, The SS and Nazi's pulled the same exact plays 80 years ago and those that don't know or refuse to learn history will be doomed to repeat it.

The GOP are now racist scumbags.

Well, something overlooked here but mentioned in the article was a crackdown on people who change residence often. This has to be for the purpose of keeping illegals from voting, because if they are jumping from one place to the other to avoid detection by ICE, they might put down a fraudulent temporary address. Scott knows that one of the ACORN tactics is to recruit illegals to vote. We know ACORN is a partisan group designed to get him and others like him elected.

I don't give a flying yap if you move 10 times in 2 years you shall never be denied the right to vote. This sets the stage for another Floridian disaster like 2000. If you can't beat him change the laws in your favour so you can, typical GOP slime and scum and this is supposed to be the party of Family Values and American liberty? Newt changed wives like people do undergarments, and this strips the rights of Americans.

The new Nazi party.

Illegals definitely do not have the right to vote. I would expect you to shake your pom poms for ACORN and illegals.

Don't bother lecturing me after we saw the slime ACORN produced in 08. They were totally in the tank for the Marxist guy and you know why.

A 43 era law centred around Ohio in 2004 had people registering as Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck making them registered to vote because of the 2000 Florida disaster. That is why ACORN got taken out because they registered too many minorities and not enough Republicans. Yet another sorry and lame arsed excuse to deny those of colour the right to vote. This is not targeting illegals because we all know that any undocumented illegal cannot vote and according to the GOP are only good for exploitation for cheap labour. Typically ficticious and unverifiable applications would've been voided and discarded but the 2006 era law forced the Gov't to accept all as valid, even those with names like Jesus Christ.

It was obviously a scam community organizing trick based on Saul Alinsky and Obama knew how to get it done. Don't lecture me about ethics.

It's not that pot is bad (I personally don't think it is) .. it's that if you are getting welfare from the state, you shouldn't be spending it on pot. Simple as that. I think the State should be able to randomly do any kind of test.. check up on you at home, have a looksee in your fridge. Make sure the kids are getting fed. Make sure you're not only buying cheap vodka and cigarettes.

If you accept aid from the state, you should be owned by the state.

The State should also reserve the right to order you to different random jobs, like picking up trash on the side of the road or cleaning a park or something.

This is to gurandamntee that the states 25 electoral votes go to anyone but the black man in the WH and since a clearcut majority of minorities don't vote GOP this is a blatant strike against them.

What's next? Denying first generation citizens to immigrant parents the right to vote? Why stop there, deny all non white and non Christian's from voting so that out of the state's 18.8 Mil people of which about less then 5 Mil are adults and about 4Mil eligible to vote is further reduced to a few hundred thousand? You see how this could end up.

Yes keep on yelling about this and using the race card, while Obama ruins our real liberties and snuggles up to all our enemies while dissing our allies. Keep it up while Obama fundamentally changes our nation from the Republic of our Founding Fathers to a Banana Republic even Castro would be jealous of.

In fact, if you want to talk about liberties and freedom, this admin is going well over the line in Internet surveillance. If you think things are bad, you ain't seen nothin yet.

Guess what buddy? The Patriot Act was originally conceived and drafted in the Clinton admin,.
If ever there was a time to put down the left/right paradigm, it's here and now. Patriot Act was a move made possible by both parties. As long as you keep believing it's all the bad GOP you will never see the truth.

Guess what buddy? The Patriot Act was originally conceived and drafted in the Clinton admin, but it was not passed until after 9-11. If ever there was a time to put down the left/right paradigm, it's here and now. Patriot Act was a move made possible by both parties. As long as you keep believing it's all the bad GOP you will never see the truth.

41 and Co wrote PATRIOT and not the Clinton Admin s the same cast of characters during 41's term were in 43's term.

Prove it!

Turns out Patriot Act was based on the anti terrorism bill Clinton signed into law after Ok bombings.

www.historycommons.org...

President Clinton signs the Antiterrorism and Effective Death Penalty Act, which the New York Times calls “broad legislation that provides new tools and penalties for federal law-enforcement officials to use in fighting terrorism.” The Clinton administration proposed the bill in the aftermath of the Oklahoma City terrorist bombing (see April 19, 1995). In many ways, the original bill will be mirrored by the USA Patriot Act six years later (see October 26, 2001). Civil libertarians on both the left and right opposed the legislation. Political analyst Michael Freeman called the proposal one of the “worst assaults on civil liberties in decades,” and the Houston Chronicle called it a “frightening” and “grievous” assault on domestic freedoms. Many Republicans opposed the bill, and forced a compromise that removed increased wiretap authority and lower standards for lawsuits against sellers of guns used in crimes. CNN called the version that finally passed the Republican-controlled Congress a “watered-down version of the White House’s proposal. The Clinton administration has been critical of the bill, calling it too weak. The original House bill, passed last month, had deleted many of the Senate’s anti-terrorism provisions because of lawmakers’ concerns about increasing federal law enforcement powers. Some of those provisions were restored in the compromise bill.” [CNN, 4/18/1996; New York Times, 4/25/1996;

An unusual coalition of gun rights groups such as the National Rifle Association (NRA) and civil liberties groups such as the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) led the opposition to the law. [New York Times,

www.discoverthenetworks.org...

The PATRIOT Act was no dramatic departure from existing legislation. Indeed, its key provisions were incorporated from an anti-terrorism measure that had been passed by Congress and signed into law by former President Bill Clinton five years earlier: the "Anti-Terrorism and Effective Death Penalty Act of 1996,"

This 1996 Act contained a number of key provisions to combat terrorism, but the ones that immediately inspired the formation of a leftist coalition against the legislation were three particular provisions that: (a) made it a criminal offense to provide "material support" or "expert advice or assistance" to terrorist groups; (b) allowed prosecutors to use secret evidence in terrorism cases; and (c) authorized the U.S. Secretary of State, the Secretary of the Treasury, and the Attorney General to jointly designate organizations as terrorist groups based upon available evidence.

In addition, Obama extended certain parts of it.
