Ibn al-Shaykh al-Libi, a close associate of Osama Bin Laden, captured in December 2001, recanted claims that Iraq had provided training in chemical and biological weapons to members of the organization, this information was used by the United States to justify the invasion of Iraq last year. The Intelligence community is reevaluating the value of info gained from interrogation. They are still saying they don't know which version of the story to believe.

WASHINGTON -- A senior leader of al-Qaida who was captured in Pakistan several months after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks was the main source for intelligence, since discredited, that Iraq had provided training in chemical and biological weapons to members of the organization, according to American intelligence officials.

Intelligence officials say the detainee, Ibn al-Shaykh al-Libi, a member of Osama bin Laden's inner circle, recanted the claims sometime last year, but not before they had become the basis of statements by President George W. Bush, Vice President Dick Cheney, Secretary of State Colin Powell and others about links between Iraq and al-Qaida that involved poisons, gases and other illicit weapons.

With the recent report of the 9/11 Commision, it further reiterates the need to make changes to make sure our intelligence is just that "intelligent".

I'm sure Bush was well aware the intel was bunk. He wanted Iraq to be resposible so bad, and he let his cabinet know that with a wink and a nod. We could have brought Al Queda to its knees by now if we kept focus and didnt divert to Iraq, we would probably have Bin Laden, and Hussein would still be safely contained, the Bush administration acts like the country of Iraq was not an inmate in a prison, totally guarded at all times by our military, they knew there was no solid intel and they knew Iraq was no threat at all. Now theres even more terrorists being created in Iraq, nobody can argue that, does it make sense that a president who is to protect us from terrorists, would knowingly create more just to take out a government that was already contained?
