A short dialouge between my Chinese roommate and I

Earlier today I was watching the Colbert Report and was talking to my Chinese roommate about it, explaining the show to him, and how Colbert makes fun of our government while pretending not too. When I finished he asked:

"Isn't that illegal?"

I looked at him puzzled and said "no, definitely not it comes on everyday"

"Really?"

and only then did I remember China allows no speech against it's government, and realized how horrible that must be.

I'm on ATS a lot, I complain about and petition my government a lot, but sometimes I am reminded that it could be worse.

Even though our country is circling the drain I do love this place, and know that We the People have done something great here, even if our leaders are slowly destroying it.

If we were half the men our founders were we can rebuild ourselves an even greater and more free society and country after this one goes to hell.

so, the communists won because of this.

It really does make you apprechiate what you have. Has your room mate got a chanceto experience any new freedoms here? im not sure of the differences

And i just googled that EB 5 Visa and im pretty shocked(i should of learnt by now) you can effectively buy yourself a visa !
