A Tokyo University adviser to the government on the nuclear leak at Fukushima has resigned in tears. Professor Toshiso Kosako announced his resignation at a press conference in Tokyo. The key Japanese adviser on radiation leaks at the country’s disabled Fukushima facility said his resignation was a protest over the government’s handling of the disaster. He said the government had set unrealistic limits for radiation exposure at schools near the nuclear site.At the tearful news conference Kosako said he could not stay in the position while levels for radiation had been set at too high a level. He criticized the government for what he said was its casual handling of the crisis and the slow pace of work in bringing the nuclear facility’s radiation leaks under control.
