................In spite of strong opposition from within Congress, the Select Committee to Investigate Tax-Exempt Foundations and Comparable Organizations was formed in April 1952 and turned over to Congressman Carrol Reece of Tennessee. It was this committee that Norman Dodd served as the chief investigator, and it is in that capacity that we now see him at the New York offices of the Ford Foundation.
We are now in the year 1954, and we hear Mr. Gaither say to Mr. Dodd, “Would you be interested in knowing what we do here at the Ford Foundation?” And Mr. Dodd says, “Yes! That’s exactly why I’m here. I would be very interested, sir.” Then, without any prodding at all, Gaither says, “Mr. Dodd, we operate in response to directives, the substance of which is that we shall use our grant making power to alter life in the United States so that it can be comfortably merged with the Soviet Union.”
Dodd almost falls off of his chair when he hears that. Then he says to Gaither, “Well, sir, you can do anything you please with your grant making powers, but don’t you think you have an obligation to make a disclosure to the American people? You enjoy tax exemption, which means you are indirectly subsidized by taxpayers, so, why don’t you tell the Congress and the American people what you just told me?” And Gaither replies, “We would never dream of doing such a thing.”
We agree that capitalism is distorted but to say that capitalism today is more like communism/socialism can only be based on a distorted definition of c/s.
Capitalism today is more distorted than ever and the system we have in place, which used to be free market capitalism is now more like communism/socialism.
Most of us do not remember a system where there was true free market capitalism. If you do remember a true free market you are probably at least 80 or 90.
Who teaches you this stuff? Do you just make it up as you go along.
Well in America, It started back at the turn of the century, socialism was in part a feminist movement and still is today.
But the real damage was done in America when the Federal Reserve was created. That was in the 1930's so here we are today, do any of us really have any clue how a free market would look?
What is funny about the whole thing is that there are many different socialist groups, many of them are hate groups, for example we have the feminists, then we have the nazi party or white power national socialists, the black panthers etc. Well you get my drift, they are all rooted in wishy washy politics but they all strive for the same thing. Not to say that all socialists are hate groups, but where is the line drawn and why are all these groups all working towards the same cause.
I believed this once, then I went into 4th grade where I began to study American history. What can I say, it's true.
The beautiful thing about America, the belief it was founded on was that anybody and everybody could be free and that was only the beginning, the foundation.
Tell this to all the people whose lives have been pushed out of the way to make room for the capitalist version of reality. Maybe start with a history of sugar plantations.
We are supposed to be born free with inalienable rights, I wish I could say that was the case today. The only way to eliminate poverty is through a capitalist system.
Don't hate a person because they have more money than you. Don't hate somebody because they have more stuff than you, or for whatever reason. It is the natural order of things. Don't hate your parents because they have more talents than you or for whatever reason I am just using this as an example, it is just a natural order and your parents are here to instruct you, they have every interest in making their children just as strong or stronger to provide a better life for their children. Well in most cases anyways, there are still alot of crazy people in the world and crazy parents, needless to say they are going against the natural order if they would violate their children's inalienable rights in any way.
