The effort of Patriotism

A time has come to demonstrate and defend the principles of which our country was founded (Our Pledge of Allegiance). We are as a country being misled by supericial appearances. With the 9/11 report release and congress going on vacation at a time we are being told we are at war...What is wrong with this image? I see an image of a flag turned into an eagle (figuratively) symbolizing vision, aspiration, and growing awarness of values worth fighting for. As united (people) individuals we need to see beyond our representatives superficial appearances to see a the higher purpose and possibility of things. It is a time to show valor and transformation with determination...that is, if we want to protect what we believe in. To this end........ a call for peaceful mass demonstrations thru active participation on everyones part using this method of "getting the word out" calling for our representatives to come back to work in ""special session in this time of need, or else! Regardless of your political affilliation......if you are an incumbent..you are out! .....Lets start fresh.................... breaking this quagmire in OUR goverment.....Lets us begin by flooding the information channels demanding this change from the ground up....By using this power of VOTE.....The message should be simple......The emphasis is on change....Get back to work! Once individual's recognize the influence they can have on a whole.....the second part of starting with fresh representatives will be easy...The pessimism and frustration displayed from many replies is well understood. The conspiratorial effect has certainly achieved it's goal. The fact is that every individual is ultimately dependent on ones own inner resources. One must put forth an effort if one expects to take a place in society. I believe that most here feel a need to be useful....You see, no job or function is superior to another when it comes down to filling a need. This opportunity of instantaneous mass communication is (A la Matrix) for those enthusiasts ... is providing the catalyst for change and exercising choice. Fact finding, idea gathering and looking at options. My point here is that no goal can be reached unless the individual makes a decision and acts on it. Stretch the imagination, exercise ingenuity and spot potential. "Only those that go to far know how far one can go" TS ELLIOTT

very well said good sir. if only everyone talked like you then this world might very well be on the brink of change. the grim reality is that no one is beyond the lazy grasp of normal life. the ability to change things is hard when you do not control a media corporation and do not have billions of $$$. simple ordinary folk like us can really only lead by example, and show them ignorance and sloth is not the way to go. enlightening america is the only way we are going to be able to properly question our government. sadly modern media is turning peoples brains into thinkless, lifeless, complacent, apathetic, fools!

Good post, it points directly to the heart of the government's problem, CONGRESS, and you are correct that we must use our vote to change this problem. Too much focus is placed on the presidential election, when most don't pay attention to what our representatives are spending their time on in the Capitol.

I remember the "midnight vote" to give themselves a raise and then they slipped out of the nation's capital in the dark of night.

Congress runs the country, and if you want a change, you must change congress.

Check out your representatives, see what they have done, hold them to close scrutiny, if they fail your tests they don't deserve your vote.

If the Left & Right want to verbally bash each other, seek out someone who will speak about the issues that concern you, I am not talking about promises here, we have been hearing them for far too long, I am talking about someone who will discuss the ideas, the possible implementation, the plan to
from beginning to end, all the boring details. Anyone can promise, we need someone who can deliver on their promises.

It will take time but in order to get to the end of the road, one must begin with the first step, it is time Americans took that first step.
